There is an illuminating discussion of the roots of the current wave of anti-Israel animus, that in its virulence is often indistinguishable from antisemitism

Many people have been appalled by the October 7 pogrom. And more are beginning to connect the dots of the Muslim war against Israel with the Muslim war against non-Muslims being waged, so far largely nonviolently, by the millions of Muslims who have been allowed to settle in the U.K.

In the U.K., as in the U.S. with the “Squad” in Congress, many in the so-called “progressive left” have abandoned Israel. For those “progressives” who still remain supporters of the Jewish state, the sense of abandonment is palpable.

Israel’s achievement in Gaza, of a 10 to 7 civilian-to-combatant ratio, is astounding, without parallel in the annals of urban warfare.

The palpable decline in what we optimistically still call “higher education” was on display these last two weeks with campus demonstrations by supporters of Hamas, who in calling for “from the river to the sea/Palestine will be free” were demanding the disappearance of the only Jewish state, and its replacement by a twenty-third Arab one. So deep is the hatred of the Iranian regime for Israel that it will not let any of its athletes compete against Israeli athletes, insisting that they instead refuse to play, even though that causes their automatic disqualification from the competition.
