The AP has disseminated the glad news that Mahmoud Abbas, now entering the 18th year of his four-year term as President of the Palestinian Authority (PA), is against an “armed struggle.”

Preposterous demands of an equally preposterous administration.

Not only has Mahmoud Abbas threatened to “rescind the recognition” of Israel by the P.A., but he is also calling on the Biden Administration to “rescind” the 1987 Congressional designation of the PLO as a terror group, which US presidents for over 30 years have waived every six months.

Terror leaders are not legitimate.

Blinken was determined to come down hard on the Israelis, and to go easy on the Palestinians.

Mahmoud Abbas recently met with Nancy Pelosi in Ramallah. No new ground was broken; instead, Abbas made the same demands he has made innumerable times before, in front of a wide variety of American and European politicians. Chief among his demands, not unexpectedly, was that Israeli “settlement activity” must cease immediately if there is to be any hope of peace.

Nancy Pelosi has many faults, but a failure to support Israel is not one of them. In Congress, the Speaker of the House has always been a strong supporter of the Jewish state. She inherited her strong sympathies from her father, Thomas D’Alesandro, Jr., who was first a Congressman from Maryland and later the Mayor of Baltimore, and who played an unsung role in supporting a campaign to force Franklin Delano Roosevelt to help Jewish refugees, and in urging American recognition of the state of Israel.

The Palestinian Authority elections were called not because Palestinian Authority President-for-Life Mahmoud Abbas had suddenly become a believer in democracy, but because he wanted to put on a show for the Americans, with what he thought would be a reasonable facsimile of democracy, hoping thereby to turn on the spigot of aid that Trump had turned off. But when it became clear he would lose both the presidential and the parliamentary elections, he cancelled the elections.

The Biden Administration seems to believe that the best way to oppose the terror group Hamas is to support its arch-rival, the Palestinian Authority. Mahmoud Abbas may be a despot, a President-For-Life now entering the sixteenth year of his four-year term; he may have his goons threaten and intimidate his critics, but at least he isn’t launching rockets into Israel.

Mahmoud Abbas is the PA’s President-for-Life, now entering the 16th year of his four-year term. He has decided to hold parliamentary and presidential elections this summer, in order to impress the Biden Administration with his suddenly-discovered democratic credentials. But there are problems, and Nadav Argaman, the Shin Bet head, went to visit the rais in Ramallah to discuss a worrisome possibility.

The attempt by the Palestinians to arrogate to themselves alone the decision as to who can visit, and who is barred, from al-Aqsa, sticks in the craw of the Emiratis, and of other Muslims too. Defunding terror.

For decades, the Palestinian Arabs have viewed the Arab states — that is, the rich Arab states of the Gulf that have been dutifully supporting them — as reliable funders, ATMs with flags. No longer.

The Palestinian Authority gives lots of money to Arab terrorists, if they are in prison, and to their families, if they are dead. This is as outrageous as it is ridiculous.

Abbas is not the only “Palestinian” to enrich himself on the money that the U.S. and the West send to the “Palestinians” for humanitarian aid.

The UN’s simultaneous translator ignored Abbas’ blatant glorification of terror and defense of paying salaries to terrorists by changing his words with a mistranslation.
