The former president was at Cass Technical High School in Detroit on Saturday, campaigning for El-Sayed and the Democrat nominee for governor, Jocelyn Benson. Obama worked hard to make El-Sayed’s radical agenda sound milquetoast: [Abdul’s] taking on crony capitalism and corrupt politics that only benefits people with enough money and power to game a broken system in Washington at your expense. And you hear people say this is somehow radical. What is radical about that? Wanting everybody to have health care, how is that radical? Wanting everybody to have a place to live that they can afford, how is that radical? … And Abdul shares my values of wanting everybody to get healthcare. (Applause.)
