Manhunt Underway for Suspect in Rome Family Triple Killing

On June 26, 2026, Shahadat Hossain, 43, allegedly entered a Rome apartment in the Casalotti neighborhood and killed Kamal Uddin, 39, his wife, 38, and their daughter aged 5 to 8 using a meat cleaver. Italian police have released a photograph of the prime suspect in the fatal stabbing of three members of a Bangladeshi family in Rome, appealing to the public for assistance in locating him.
Acting on the instructions of the Rome Prosecutor’s Office, authorities identified the suspect as Shahadat Hossain, a Bangladeshi national. Police have urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Rome Police Mobile Squad.

The victims—Kamal Uddin Babul, 39, his wife Arju Akter, 38, and their five-year-old daughter Aroya Islam Arisha—were found stabbed to death in their apartment in Rome on Friday night.
Their 20-year-old son, Ayon, was rescued with critical injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Kamal Uddin Babul hailed from Companiganj upazila in Bangladesh’s Noakhali district.
Meanwhile, the murders of three members of a Bangladeshi family in Rome have drawn renewed attention to an alleged threat made against the family a year ago. According to relatives, on the night of 2 July 2025, an anonymous letter purportedly from a group calling itself the “Lal Bahini” was left at the gate of Babul’s father Sirajul Islam’s home.
The letter demanded money and gold ornaments, threatening to kill family members and assault female relatives if the demands were not met.
Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nurul Hakim said the family had verbally informed police of the threat at the time, after which regular security measures were provided.
He added that following the killing of three family members in Italy, the previous threat is now being reviewed with renewed importance as part of the broader investigation.
