The Attorney of the Republic beseeched the Court of Ferne in the state of Tiaret to impose a six-month prison sentence and a fine of 5 million centimes ($438.30) against the accused, “NB,” who is an Algerian Christian from the same state, on charges of “shaking the faith” of Muslims, pending the final verdict on March 8.
The Algerian dissident intellectual with enormous courage, whose life is on the line every day, Boualem Sansal, understands Islam and the danger surging therefrom because he grew up in and with it.
So this is how a moderate Muslim nation operates — by erasing the faces of female political candidates from public view? But that’s Algeria for you.
