If the various blue states won’t purge their voter lists of dead or non-citizen voters, the administration wants to track exactly who is receiving a ballot.
The US Supreme Court has sided with President Trump, lifting a lower court’s order that blocked President Trump’s mail-in ballot restrictions to go into effect.
Trump’s order requires:
– Each USPS envelope to have a unique barcode with tracking
– DHS and SSA create approved voter list
– USPS ONLY sends ballots to that list
NY POST: The Supreme Court ruled Monday that President Trump’s executive order tightening the rules around mail-in voting can be implemented ahead of the November midterm elections.
The 6-3 decision — with liberal Justices Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor dissenting — marks a major victory for Trump, but appears to leave room for future legal challenges that could delay the president’s order.
In its ruling, the high court overturned a lower court order that blocked the Trump administration from enforcing the March 31 mail-in voting order in response to a lawsuit filed by 23 Democratic-led states, who argued the directive unconstitutionally infringes on their authority to administer elections.
Amy Howe: The Supreme Court on Monday afternoon cleared the way for the Trump administration to begin implementing an executive order, signed by President Donald Trump earlier this year, that imposes restrictions on mail-in voting. The court paused an injunction by a federal judge in Boston that had barred the federal government from applying provisions of that executive order in the November elections to 23 states (along with the District of Columbia) challenging their legality. A separate ruling by the same judge, in a case filed by a different set of plaintiffs, temporarily prohibits the U.S. Postal Service from implementing one provision of the executive order anywhere in the United States. That ruling remains in effect, at least for now. In its 10-page, unsigned opinion, the majority said that it was too soon for courts to consider the states’ challenge because the order has not yet been carried out – which means that the states have not suffered the kind of injury that allows their lawsuit to move forward (SCOTUSblog).

The decision will upend midterm elections, putting election officials and administrators on a tight deadline to comply with the rule changes and aggravate privacy concerns for voters (Axios).
🇺🇸 HUGE MASSIVE WIN! – Remember the SAVE America Act? The bill to make sure only citizens vote that the Senate let die?
Trump just went and did a big piece of it anyway!

Trump’s executive order from March that precipitated the case: Secure ballot envelope identifiers provide a reliable, auditable mechanism to enforce Federal law without unduly burdening or infringing on the rights of eligible voters. Unique ballot envelope identifiers, such as bar codes, enable confirmation that only citizens receive and cast ballots, reducing the risk of fraud and protecting the integrity of Federal elections (White House).
