Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent outlines Operation Economic Outcast against Iran. What’s left of Iran’s economy is toast. Thank you, President Trump.
Notable from the Treasury Secretary has been his language making clear the objective is the end of the regime: President Trump has taken action that his predecessors have long deferred. And under his leadership, America is no longer managing the Iranian threat. We are ending it. Our great armed forces have laid the groundwork for achieving the president’s objective of preventing Iran from ever obtaining nuclear weapons. They have shown America’s resolve to finally end this threat. And the strength of America’s economy under President Trump allows us to wage this sustained financial operation alongside the might of our military (Rapid Response).
CNBC summarizes the key components: The new sectoral sanctions target five areas that Washington considers vital to Iran’s economy: digital assets, technology, gold, aviation and shipping. Bessent said the measures would significantly expand the risk of secondary sanctions for companies and financial institutions that continue to conduct business with Iran. The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control is also sanctioning more than 60 entities, individuals and vessels worldwide, according to Bessent. The targets are accused of helping the Iranian regime obtain nuclear and missile technology, conduct cyber operations and generate oil revenue (CNBC).
Secretary Bessent is superb. Watch his brilliant statement below. And watch General Jack Keane’s analysis as well.

Congratulations President @realDonaldTrump and Secretary @SecScottBessent on the latest sanctions against the Iranian regime.
You justly exact a steep price from that cruel dictatorship and from those who assist its continued aggression.

Operation Economic Outcast: Total Isolation of the Iranian Regime
By The White House, Aug 24th, 2026
Today, the Trump Administration unleashed Operation Economic Outcast, an unprecedented campaign to sever every remaining economic lifeline sustaining the Islamic Republic of Iran. After President Trump and the overwhelming might of the U.S. military dismantled Iran’s military capabilities and crippled its nuclear program, America is entering the endgame with the single greatest financial offensive ever mounted against an adversary.
