No sooner had Martin Griffiths, the UN’s Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, declared that Hamas was not a terrorist group than it came it light that at least 30 UNRWA employees actively participated in Hamas’ Oct. 7 jihad massacre of 1,200 Israelis. So now we see: of course Hamas isn’t a terror group. It’s a UN agency.
The Jerusalem Post reported Thursday that Griffiths said: “Hamas is not a terrorist group for us, as you know, it is a political movement.” Yeah, sure, that’s it: Hamas is a political movement that engages from time to time in mass rape and murder. Really, how far off from that are the Democrats? Give our sinister stateside authoritarians a few years, and they could be giving Hamas a run for its money.
In the meantime, Griffiths was calling for negotiations with the jihad terrorists who have repeatedly vowed to destroy Israel: “But, I think it is very very difficult to dislodge these groups without a negotiated solution; which includes their aspirations. I cannot think of an example offhand of a place where a victory through warfare has succeeded against a well-entrenched group, terrorist or otherwise.” Yeah, that’s why National Socialist Germany is a world power today
Griffiths claimed that he was not, however, entirely divorced from reality. He asserted that he had “total understanding” of the “trauma” that the Oct. 7 jihad massacre had caused to Israelis, but insisted that the Jewish state would have to “build a relationship with its neighbors regardless.” He didn’t say anything about any concomitant responsibility on the part of Hamas or the Muslim Arab states neighboring Israel to make an effort to build relationships with the people whom the Qur’an designates as the worst enemies of the Muslims (5:82).
Griffiths also “insisted that pondering whether Israel would operate in Rafah was an issue that kept him up at night.” He didn’t say anything, however, about new revelations that at least thirty employees of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) took an active part in the Oct. 7 mass murder of Israelis.
The Jerusalem Post reported Friday that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant “announced on Friday the details of 12 UNRWA employees who are members of Hamas and participated in the October 7 massacre.” That wasn’t all: Gallant “told reporters that Israel has intelligence that more than 30 of the organization’s employees actively participated in the murder spree, assisting in the kidnapping of civilians and soldiers.” What’s more, “he presented data, according to which 12% of the 13,000 UNRWA employees are connected to terrorist organizations in Gaza, and 1,468 of the employees are even active in them.”
It’s a shame that we have no journalists worth the name today. If we did, one of them might dare to ask Martin Griffiths what he thinks of all this. Does he profess not to believe that Hamas is a terrorist organization because he approves of its activities, and those of the UNRWA employees who joined the jihad? Does he, like Hamas, want to see Israel destroyed and a new genocide of the Jews?
Gilad Erdan, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, summed up the enormity of Griffiths’ statements: “The UN’s support for Hamas is finally revealed on live television…The UN Under-Secretary-General claims live that Hamas is ‘not a terrorist organization but a political movement.’ Is the barbaric murder of hundreds of civilians not terrorism? Is systematic rape of women not terrorism? Is attempting to commit genocide not terrorism? This is the face of the UN these days: an organization that whitewashes terrorism, promotes Hamas and blames the victims. The UN has lost all credibility. Mr. Under-Secretary-General, you cannot say that you are acting in the name of ‘humanitarian’ matters. You are a collaborator of Hamas!”
No doubt about that. Griffiths is a collaborator of Hamas, and Hamas is now, for all intents and purposes, a UN agency. It is carrying out what is very clearly the agenda of the UN, albeit a trifle more crudely and nakedly than the sophisticated diplomats and ambassadors for world peace generally allow themselves to be, at least openly. But give them time. At the rate things are going, the rest of the UN will catch up with Hamas/UNRWA soon enough.
