Farage Pledges to End Migrants’ Access to Public Housing

Across Britain, locals have been protesting the placement of migrants in their villages and towns, including some of the most scenic in the UK, and in cities, where even luxury hotels have been made available for similar lodgings for migrants. This has enraged many British citizens, who are anxious about the crime emanating from these “migrant hotels” and infuriated at the expense to British taxpayers for providing such accommodations. Now Nigel Farage, the founder and leader of the Reform Party, has pledged to end immigrants’ access to public housing. Brexit boss Nigel Farage has argued that in prioritising foreigners over [indigenous British] people from those communities, there has been a “massive disruption to the social fabric” of many localities across Britain and that government policies have actively shifted the housing supply “away from the white British populations who originally inhabited areas.”…

These immigrants are lodged not just in up-scale hotels in cities, but in inns and hotels that the government takes over in the middle of small village that rely on tourists for their livelihood. The presence of hundreds of young male Muslim migrants makes those villages far less attractive to those former visitors. The migrants also engage both in crimes of property — shoplifting, robberies, burglaries, drug trafficking — and also in violent crimes, including rape of local English girls. And as Muslims, these migrants are unable and unwilling to integrate into a society created by English non-Muslims who, they know from the Qur’an, are “the most vile of created beings.” This is what Farage meant when he spoke of the “massive disruption of the social fabric.”

To remedy the situation, the Reform leader said that if given power, his party would bar all foreign nationals from public housing. Those who fail to find a new accommodation within three months will be subject to deportation, he said….

Barring all foreign nationals from public housing will in one fell swoop make the UK distinctly unwelcoming to the economic migrants who come to the UK precisely for that subsidized housing, which is the most important of the many benefits now made available for migrants. Once they are barred from that housing, Muslim economic migrants will undoubtedly stop coming to the UK, but will try their luck in other European countries where such housing subsidies still obtain.

Indeed, in addition to vowing to cut off social housing for migrants, the party has also vowed to cut off financial benefits as a whole to foreign nationals, who currently are draining Britain’s coffers to the tune of over £1 billion every month in direct welfare payments.

Free medical care, and free education, would continue to be offered to migrants under Farage’s scheme, but direct welfare payments, including family allowances and unemployment benefits, would be stopped. That is another great disincentive for economic migrants who might have been planning to come to the UK.

The Reform Party promises to deport all illegal migrants, and withdraw from the ECHR that in the past has blocked deportations from its member states. Those who have been allowed into the country during the past five years, while their applications for asylum status are still being discussed, will now find that status had been definitively rejected. And all legal immigration will be cut to “net zero” — that is, immigration can only be as large as emigration from the country.

It remains to be clarified whether that “emigration” will include those one million illegals who will be deported, or whether emigration applies only to those UK citizens who choose to emigrate, very likely because they are fed up with the millions of Muslim migrants now living in the UK.

Now those who may be subject to deportation will be detained in these net centers for hearings, instead on relying on their promises — so often breached — to show up for their deportation hearings. Too often in the past, they don’t show up for these hearings, because they know their likely outcome and instead they slip back into the general population, where finding them is difficult. If the Reform Party wins, that will no longer be possible.

Farage’s strict new proposals are a sign of how swiftly English public opinion has hardened against immigration. He who once spoke only of limiting immigration — and said nothing about deportation — is now talking about a host of measures that would effectively end almost all immigration, and deport millions.

To sum up: Farage would immediately round up and deport all one million illegal aliens now in the UK; he would ban foreign nationals from living in public housing; he would detain in newly-created “deportation hubs” all those now in the country whose claim of refugee status has yet to be determined so that, if it is decided that they are to be deported, they will already be in custody; he would deport all those who have arrived in the country in the last five years and are still waiting for a decision on their claim of asylum status.

Farage was pushed to such measures, hitherto unthinkable, because of the appearance of a new leader, Rupert Lowe, head of the new Restore Britain Party, who before Farage announced his own policy, has flatly declared that he would promptly deport all illegal migrants, expel all foreign criminals from UK prisons and deport them to their countries of origin, called for policies to encourage non-British nationals who are not contributing to the economy, or are costing taxpayers, to leave, and has suggested evicting foreign nationals from social housing if they cannot finance their own living arrangements. One can see how much of what Lowe previously proposed Farage has now decided to adopt, as he worries about this new rival from the right.

In addition, however, Lowe wants the government to make the practice of Islam more difficult in the UK. He has explicitly demanded government bans on the burqa, sharia courts, cousin marriage, and halal slaughter. If all those measures were to be passed — especially the ban on halal slaughter — many Muslims would find it difficult to remain in the UK, which is exactly what Lowe, and many others, wish to achieve. On these aspects of Lowe’s policy, Farage has yet to take a public position.
