Fang Fang, the Chinese intelligence honey pot developed extensive ties with local and national politicians in what was and still is a political intelligence operation run by China’s main spy agency.
The operation offers a rare window into how Beijing has gained access to and influence U.S. political circles.

Through campaign fundraising, extensive networking, personal charisma, and romantic or sexual relationships with at least two Midwestern mayors, Fang was able to gain proximity to political power, according to current and former U.S. intelligence officials and one former elected official. (more)
Nonprofit linked to seductive Swalwell honeypot Fang Fang has CCP ties — and still places interns into political offices across US
By Isabel Vincent, NY Post, Sep. 2, 2026:The alleged Chinese spy who seduced ex-Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell met him through a nonprofit accused of Chinese Communist Party ties — which is still placing interns with politicians across the US.
Fang “Christine” Fang worked her way up to president of a chapter of The Asian Pacific American Public Affairs (APAPA) group, which she used to help get interns into other political offices in California, one of the group’s stated missions.
Now-disgraced Swalwell told the FBI he considered glamorous graduate student Fang, whom he first met in 2012 before he took office, as his main point of contact with APAPA, according to declassified FBI files.

One was an Ohio mayor, whom she had a sexual liaison with inside a car which was under electronic FBI surveillance, although the mayor’s identity has never been revealed.
In a statement to The Post, APAPA said their “current national leadership has no information” Fang ever held an authorized role in the group.
Henry Yin, 79, is APAPA’s national chair and has claimed to be an adviser to California Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna.
Yin, a Chinese-American, is associated with numerous United Front groups, which are arms of the CCP. Between 2013 and 2023, Yin traveled to China to promote tech investment as the “head of the Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs Delegation,” where he gave speeches on “perspectives as overseas Chinese in the US,” according to the party-controlled Sichuan Daily News.

ADVERTISEMENTYin is also named in reports by the CCP-controlled Sichuan Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, which refer to him by his Chinese name as an “overseas Chinese leader in California and Silicon Valley.” A 2013 report from the ministry also mentions an education foundation scholarship in the Yin family’s hometown in Sichuan province, which the ministry supported.
The Yin family is also credited as investing in Renshou County’s “development of science and technology industries,” and attracting investment from the US.
“APAPA is a locus of pro-CCP activity. Its mission is explicitly political,” claimed Jackie Deal, a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia. APAPA says its mission is to advance Asian and Pacific Islander communities “through increased leadership and civic engagement.”
Yin made inroads in US politics in the early aughts and was appointed to the California Commission for Economic Development in 2010 by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, which was renewed four years later by the next governor, Jerry Brown.
“With my many social networking resources in both the US and China and many, years experience in government, business and social communities, I won’t hesitate if the [US] Federal Government chooses to use me for something in the future,” Yin told the China Daily newspaper at that time.
Yin did not respond to requests for comment on this story from The Post, nor is he accused of any wrongdoing.
The LinkedIn profile of Henry Yin, the national chair of APAPA, who claims to be a senior advisor to Ro Khanna.
Yin has been a senior adviser to Khanna since 2019, according to his LinkedIn page. That same year, Khanna posted to X: “Henry will serve as my Senior Advisor on Foreign Trade and Economic Development.” alongside a photo of him, Yin and other Chinese-American community members. But Khanna’s spokeswoman denied the connection to Yin to The Post last week, saying: “Henry lives in Fremont and is a respected community member, but has never held a formal role with the Congressman.”
Khanna is the ranking member on the House’s Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party — which was set up to investigate CCP influence on the US.
He recently asked for a data center “bill of rights” to guard against their proliferation in the US — at a time when recent intelligence reports have indicated the CCP is conducting a coordinated campaign to stall the development of US AI data centers.
APAPA said it has “not taken a position” on the issue of data centers, but added: “Personal views of individuals associated with APAPA do not represent an organizational position.”

The group also has links to other currently serving politicians.
In Brooklyn, Assemblyman William Colton took home a “Community Champion Award” from APAPA at the group’s 2023 gala. Colton’s former longtime aide, Susan Zhuang, was a volunteer and member of APAPA.
Zhuang was elected to City Council in 2023, and was arrested for biting a cop during a homeless protest in 2024. The charges were later dismissed after she completed a restorative justice program.
Democratic New York State Senator Samra Brouk has hosted APAPA interns in her office, according to APAPA’s website, as has Democratic New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim.
In California, Marilyn Cachola Lucey, APAPA’s national Chief Operating Officer is a former policy director for California Assemblywoman Rebecca Bauer-Kahan.
