Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Tells Staff Not to Call 9/11 ‘Terrorist Attacks’

Why try to brainwash people into believing that 9/11 was a “terrorist attack”? Let them make up their own minds. Don’t try to influence them. That would be unfair. That would be playing with their minds. Thus thought a Muslim member of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation senior staff, who sent out a memo to CBC staff members below him in rank, instructing them not to describe the 9/11 mass murders as “terrorist attacks.” More on this scandalous matter can be found here.

Ahead of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has circulated a memo to reporters and editors instructing them not to refer to them as “terrorist attacks.”

This was first reported on by Canadian journalist Warren Kinsella, who received the memo. CBC then confirmed the existence of the memo to The Jerusalem Post.

According to the screenshot of the memo shared by Kinsella, the memo was authored by Basem Boshra, senior director of journalistic standards and public trust at CBC News, to reporters and editors….

Basem Boshra is a Muslim. Do you think that might explain his memo, intended to confuse the CBC audience about the 9/11 attacks carried out by 19 Muslims, and insisting that those attacks not be referred to as “terrorist attacks,” lest the minds of the CBC audience be poisoned against Muslims only fighting for their legitimate rights against their Western oppressors, led by Israel and the United States?

CBC spokeswoman Kerry Kelly told the Post that it is the practice of the CBC to “exercise extreme caution before using the words terrorist and terrorism.”…

Of course. We understand. So many of these attacks described as committed by “terrorists” are in fact acts of resistance, just like those of the Resistance members who fought the Nazis in Occupied France. If Resistance heroes — say, Jean Moulin — attacked Nazi patrols in Paris, we wouldn’t call those “terrorist attacks,” now, would we? So the same rule should apply for Muslims in the West only trying to liberate their territory from Israeli occupiers and their American backers.

She also pointed the Post to an October 2023 blog by Brodie Fenlon, CBC news editor-in-chief and general manager, where he said “CBC News does not itself designate specific groups as terrorists, or specific acts as terrorism, regardless of the region or the events, because these words are so loaded with meaning, politics and emotion that they can end up being impediments to our journalism.”

Think about that. The words “terrorist” and “terrorism” must be used most sparingly, or ideally not at all, because “these words are so loaded with meaning.” If you use such words, you might actually turn some people against those — overwhelmingly Muslims — who are only fighting for their legitimate rights. And that, of course, would never do.

“While the language is not seriously disputed in some cases, it’s less clear if not highly contested at other times – which can lead to virtually endless questions about consistency and impartiality in our coverage of various attacks around the world,” he advised.

And so? So let’s never use such words as “terrorist”and “terrorism,” because we can’t all agree on when those words should apply. To avoid endless battles over semantics, and keeping in mind that “one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter,” let’s stop using those words altogether. After all, why should the CBC appear to be taking sides?

I trust that an outpouring of scorn heaped on this CBC directive telling staff not to describe terrorist attacks as “terrorist attacks” will lead to a retraction of the memo, and the assurance, given from on high in the broadcaster’s hierarchy, that the description “terror attacks” will be applied wherever appropriate. 9/11 in New York, 7/7 in London, 11/3 in Madrid, and 7/10 in Israel were all terror attacks, and must be properly identified as such.

One more thing. The author of that outrageous CBC directive, a certain Basem Boshra, should be investigated for protecting the image of Muslim terrorists by insisting on mischaracterizing their attacks. Any fair-minded investigation should lead to his dismissal. And there is hope. Reality has now mugged too many people in the West. They are the ones paying extravagantly — hundreds of billions of euros each year — for the cornucopia of welfare benefits that Muslim migrants in Europe and North America continue to batten on. They are increasingly unhappy about that, and are unlikely to have patience on top of it for this unwarranted solicitude from Basem Boshra.
