Israel Takes Historic Step Toward Recognizing Armenian Genocide Following Unanimous Cabinet Vote

Long overdue.

The denial of the Armenian genocide is a crime against humanity.

For far too long much of the international community refused to unequivocally recognize the Armenian Genocide not forlack of historical evidence. It was about geopolitical expediency.

The Armenian Genocide wasn’t denied because the evidence was in doubt—it was denied because Turkey held leverage. For generations, governments buried historical truth beneath strategic alliances, military interests, and diplomatic convenience, refusing to utter the word “genocide” lest they offend Ankara. The message was unmistakable: geopolitical expediency mattered more than justice for a million murdered Armenians. History became hostage to politics.

And Turkey exploited this weakness and aligned with jihad forces.

The Turks have gotten away with this monstrous genocide for well over 100 years now. Unlike the Nazis, they refused to acknowledge or apologize for their unimaginable atrocities which is why they continue today with impunity. One and half million Armenians Christians were ethically cleansed, slaughtered by the Islamic Ottoman empire.

Hitler was inspired by the Armenian genocide. It was Hitler’s template. Hitler himself cited the Armenian genocide when layig out his plans.

Adolf Hitler made spoke of the Armenian Genocide was a rhetorical question he posed in a 1939 speech: “Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”. This remark was part of an address to his military commanders where he sought to justify his plan for mass murder.

Hitler’s ally, the leader of the Muslim world, the Mufti al-Husseini, was an Ottoman Empire Officer during the Armenian genocide.

‘Never too late’: Israeli gov’t unilaterally votes to recognize Armenian Genocide

Turkey denies that the massacres, imprisonment, and forced deportation of Armenians amounted to genocide, and Israel long avoided recognizing it as such due to diplomatic sensitivities.

By: Mirian Sela-Eitam, Jerusalem Post, June 28, 2026:

The Israeli government voted on Sunday to formally recognize the Armenian Genocide, following a resolution proposal put forth by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar late last week.

“The Israeli government approved a short time ago the resolution I presented to it recognizing the Armenian genocide,” Sa’ar said following the vote. “It’s never too late to do the right thing.”

“This horrific genocide, which took place more than 100 years ago and regarding which there is no real dispute over the historical facts, included the murder of 1.5 million people and the destruction of an ancient cultural and historical heritage.”

“In my view, it is our moral obligation as Jews, and certainly as the state of the Jewish people, to adopt the decision we approved today,” he added.

The proposal is now slated to be brought before the Knesset plenum for a vote.

The Foreign Ministry added in its own statement that despite being extensively documented, the genocide has been subjected to an “institutionalized campaign of denial and minimization,” spearheaded primarily by Turkey.
