Trump is pouring everything into the final stretch of the midterms, which he calls the most important in the country’s history. He rallied in Greenville, North Carolina, with NASCAR legend Richard Petty, announced a $1.5 billion chip plant for the state, and is heading to South Carolina next. He says he’ll spend over $400 million by Election Day, and Elon Musk has put in hundreds of millions more, making this one of the most heavily funded midterm pushes ever. Democrats still lead in the key North Carolina Senate race, where Roy Cooper is ahead of Trump’s pick, Michael Whatley.
President Trump on Tuesday morning: I am pleased to announce that, having to do with the Most Important Midterm Elections in our Country’s History, I have spent, or will be spending, over 400 Million Dollars by Election Day. More than 300 Million Dollars has already been spent on Advertising, Direct and Indirect Voter Contact, Rallies, Rally Arenas, Telerallies, Get Out the Vote Programs, Election Integrity, and more (Truth).
Cameron Arcand adds: Trump ally and tech billionaire Elon Musk has also poured in roughly $366 million into the election to help Republicans cross the finish line (Townhall). Reuters on the mechanisms Trump is using: Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., and an affiliated group, No Going Back PAC, have spent at least $226 million on the elections so far, campaign filings show (Reuters).
And, the New York Times on Musk: Elon Musk has quietly funneled more than $276 million into Republican groups and his super PAC since the start of July, building a huge turnout operation to help the party battle headwinds in the midterm elections. The staggering amount of money makes Mr. Musk, the richest person in the world, by far the largest known donor in the midterms (New York Times).
🚨 BREAKING: President Trump just told a packed crowd in Greenville, North Carolina exactly how hard he's fighting for these midterms.
"I'm working like a dog. I've done like about 10 rallies in about 8 days… We have like 15 days, and I'm doing about 18 rallies. That's work."… pic.twitter.com/jWjResdhrp

Joining the president was NASCAR legend Richard Petty, who summed it up in NASCAR terms: “We’re in a BIG RACE HERE, guys…[Trump] is the BEST DRIVER we’ve EVER HAD. What we gotta do, is you all gotta pick out the best PIT CREW for him…that’s what [the midterms] are about. Let’s GET OUT and get the best pit crew we can to the best driver in the world” (Daugherty).

The president announced a $1.5 billion investment in a semiconductor chip production plant in the state: The Department of War will be investing $1.5 billion to produce cutting edge semiconductor chips right here in North Carolina also. It’s breaking news (Sortor).
WITN: On the campaign trail for Michael Whatley, Trump called his Democratic opponent Roy Cooper a “disgrace to this state.” “Cooper released over 3,500 convicted, highline criminals, including 86 convicted murderers,” the president said. It’s the same thing being claimed in a pro-Whatley ad the WITN First Alert Investigates team fact checked earlier this year. The ad refers to a move in 2021 where then-governor Cooper agreed to a civil rights lawsuit settlement that led to 3,500 inmates being released during the COVID-19 pandemic (WITN).
