ITALY ABLAZE: Muslim Migrants and Antifa Rioters Milan Into a Battlefield, Riots Erupt Outside the Duomo, Fire Beneath the Spires

Italy, like France, is witnessing scenes of destruction in the heart of its historic cities. Outside Milan’s magnificent Duomo, a symbol of Christianity and one of the world’s great Gothic cathedrals, a cost-of-living protest reportedly descended into fires, clashes and devastation beneath its soaring spires. Shops shuttered, tourists sought shelter and police confronted rioters as smoke filled the square. The spectacle is appalling: destruction beneath a monument generations built and preserved, while onlookers watch and record. Economic grievances cannot excuse violence and vandalism. When a city’s sacred and historic heart becomes a staging ground for intimidation, what is under siege extends beyond public order to the history, culture, traditions and identity embodied in that place.

Muslim migrants and Antifa rioters attacked officers, hurled paper bombs and firecrackers, and wrecked cars in the shadow of its spires. Smoke bombs flew at rooftop bars, shops locked their doors, and tourists hid. British visitors said they had never felt less safe and rushed for the first flight home. Dozens have been arrested. The cathedral is the heart of Milan and a symbol of Christian Europe, and the mob lit fires at its feet while the crowd filmed. Italy is starting to look like France. This was no celebration. It was a collapse, and an insult to Italy’s history, culture, and identity that will not be forgotten.
