Washington Times: President Trump told the United Nations on Tuesday he’s confronting global challenges while others dither and would not let the midterms dictate whether he strikes a deal with Iran or moves to “annihilate” the Middle East country. Mr. Trump threatened to drive Iran “into hell” if they refuse to drop their nuclear ambitions, an eyebrow-raising threat during a whirlwind day that featured his address to the General Assembly, a Greenland security pact and meetings with the leaders of the U.K., Japan and Ukraine. “I have a big decision to make,” Mr. Trump told gathered leaders. “Will a deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before, maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East or even the world? Or do I annihilate the Islamic republic and do it quickly, never giving them a chance to kill and destroy people and countries again?” (Washington Times).

Also: The President revealed that American officials met with the Iranian delegation at the massive event…. “Steve [Witkoff] and Jared [Kushner] had a very productive meeting today with mediators of Iran. Merely mediators,” he said (Townhall).

His UN addresses from the start have been top-notch statesmanship — and prophetic: The Germans laughed at his 2018 warning not to depend on Russian energy . . . until the tanks rolled into Ukraine in 2022.
On Tuesday he again held a clear mirror up to the all-talk, no-walk crowd — and if the UN fails to get the message, its days may be numbered.
Trump touted America’s rebound since his return to the White House and trumpeted his effective work to “reshape the world stage”: his peace deals, his Venezuela move, his Greenland entente and, above all, his defanging of Iran.
Indeed, he vowed to “annihilate” the Islamic Republic if it refuses to make an acceptable deal.
Hear, hear.
ADVERTISEMENTAnd while Trump unabashedly puts America’s interests first, his emphasis on action is a clear indictment of the United Nations’ failure to carry out its primary mission: to confront threats to world peace, such as Iran.
The president was even more explicit about his disdain for Turtle Bay’s efforts to impose a “far-left agenda” and for its “globalists,” “rogue” International Criminal Court, Human Rights Council and UNESCO.
Yes, “the United Nations has great, great potential,” Trump allowed; his criticisms aim to save it.
But that requires a massive shift in UN culture — and leadership.
Secretary-General António Guterres’ decade of misrule has seen the bureaucracy bloat and obsessively target Israel.
It’s had little to say, as Trump noted, about the persecution of Christians; it failed to step up to world challenges, such as Iran.
Israel has identified nearly 1,500 UN employees as members of Hamas or allied terror groups; many joined in the Oct. 7 rape-kill-and-kidnap atrocities.
