Hitachi deepens commitment to U.S. manufacturing with $528 million Mississippi transformer factory

Hitachi Energy’s largest single investment in the U.S. to date brings American manufacturing expansion commitment to around $1.5 billion, with other major projects in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Tennessee.

New facility in Gallman, Mississippi, will be more than twice the size of Hitachi Energy’s Crystal Springs plant, doubling production capacity and creating over 700 jobs, more than 2x the current workforce in the area.

Expansion reinforces Hitachi Energy’s long-term commitment to American manufacturing, stronger domestic supply chains, and a more resilient U.S. power grid.

Tokyo/Zurich/Crystal Springs, MS, September 15, 2026 – Hitachi Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, “Hitachi”), today announced plans for a new $528 million transformer manufacturing facility in Gallman, Mississippi, creating over 700 jobs. The Mississippi facility will be the cornerstone of Hitachi Energy’s around $1.5 billion U.S. manufacturing expansion program, the largest in the industry, increasing domestic production of transformers and other critical grid infrastructure to meet rapidly growing energy demand across the country.
