Trump caps sensational 250th celebration with tribute to the glory of American freedom
Delayed by storms and greeted by crowds who endured searing heat that reached 103 degrees, Trump implored the nation to never relinquish its commitment to liberty and independence or its resilience in the face of adversity.

Engulfed by flyovers, fairs, fireworks and symphonies, President Donald Trump brought America’s 250th celebration to a final crescendo Saturday night with a rousing speech that celebrated a nation that he declared has been “the hope, the promise, the light and the glory among all of the nations of the world.”
Delayed by storms and greeted by crowds who endured searing heat that reached 103 degrees, Trump implored the nation to never relinquish its commitment to liberty and independence or its resilience in the face of adversity.
“We are made in the courage, fire, flesh, and blood of the best and the bravest people this world has ever produced,” he said. “Tonight, we pledge allegiance to the flag they gave us — and we say, ‘God bless the immortal patriots of 1776, and LONG LIVE THE CAUSE OF INDEPENDENCE!”
At one point, the president brought heroes from various wars to the stage, including a 107-year-old survivor of Pearl Harbor, as well as families who lost loved ones in the service of the nation.
“For 250 years, the United States of America has been the hope, the promise, the light, and the glory among all of the nations of the world… with God’s help, we can always be this or even better,” he said.
“Here on our National Mall, we’re celebrating Freedom’s triumph over tyranny, liberty’s conquest over oppression, and the enduring victory of the America spirit from July 4, 1776 to July 4, 2026,” he said. “Tonight, our country is stronger, freer, richer, safer and prouder than ever before.”
ADVERTISEMENTAfter Trump spoke, the largest firework display ever recorded in America blasted into the nighttime skies over Washington DC. Before the finale, Trump hailed the indomitable good that Americans had achieved over their first 250 years.
“No people have done more good, showed more courage, made more progress, righted more injustice or achieved more greatness than you, the American people,” he said.
And as he did the night before during a celebration at Mount Rushmore, the president contrasted those American values with those of socialism and communism that are encroaching in some corners of the country.
“We are one people. We are one family. You showed that tonight. With one flag, and as our Declaration of Independence tells us we are all made in the image on of One Almighty God. And a communist will never say that,” he said.
