Trump Pressures Netanyahu As Iran Demands Hezb’Allah Ceasefire

Trump put the brakes on Israel’s plan to strike Beirut in a reportedly acrimonious phone call with the Israeli Prime Minister.

One cannot know how much of this leak is true or more anti-Trump, anti-Israel propaganda,

Axios is leftist and Israel-hating publication. The likelihood of the contents of this report being compleatly accurate is very low. However,,President Trump’s demands on PM Netanyahu to not retaliate against Hezbollah is obscene. Hezbollah is launching rockets and drones into Northern Israel. Would President Trump tolerate a terrorist organization in Mexico launching rockets into South Texas? Of course he wouldn’t. To make matters even worse, is that this could cost the PM Netanyahu an election, set to take place in the Fall. In the meantime, the negotiations with Iran’s genocidal leaders continue.

Iran says the key issue in its decision to stop negotiations is Israel’s progress in its war against Hezb’Allah in Lebanon. They demanded a ceasefire, and Trump may have delivered at least a partial one, to the displeasure of Bibi Netanyahu. Reuters: Lebanon on Monday announced a partial ceasefire between Hezb’Allah and Israel, in what would amount to a limited de-escalation of a conflict that has killed thousands ‌of people and inflamed the broader war with Iran. According to Lebanon’s embassy in Washington, the agreement, which would not end the conflict in that country, calls for Israel to refrain from strikes on Beirut and its suburbs controlled by Hezb’Allah, while the Iran-aligned group would halt its attacks on Israel. U.S. President Donald Trump, who first announced the agreement, said Hezb’Allah, through intermediaries, had pledged not to attack Israel. No U.S. president has ever spoken with Hezb’Allah, with or without intermediaries. The group is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States. Trump also said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to pull back any troops preparing to attack Lebanon. After Trump’s announcement, Netanyahu said Israel would continue military operations in southern Lebanon, where ground forces are pushing toward the Zaharani River, their deepest incursion in Lebanon in 25 years. Netanyahu’s coalition may fall apart if the ceasefire is implemented completely, but the pressure Trump reportedly put on him was, shall we say, intense.

Axios: President Trump lashed out at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over Israel’s escalation in Lebanon in an expletive-laden call on Monday, two U.S. officials and a third source briefed on the call told Axios. Why it matters: Earlier on Monday, Iran threatened to abandon the negotiations with the U.S. over Israel’s actions in Lebanon. On the call, Trump called Netanyahu “crazy” and accused him of ingratitude, according to two of the sources. He also put the brakes on Israel’s plan to strike Beirut. (Axios.)

Trump reportedly tears into Netanyahu over Hezbollah strikes: ‘What the f–k are you doing?’

By: Caitlin Doornbos and Victor Nava, NY Post, June 1, 2026:

President Trump reportedly tore into Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, demanding the leader resist strikes on Hezbollah in an expletive-laden phone call.

The tense call came after Iran threatened to withdraw from negotiations with the US after Israel ordered strikes on terrorists in southern Beirut — with Axios reporting the president at one point asking, “What the f–k are you doing?”

“You’re f–king crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this,” a US official told Axios, summarizing Trump’s comments.

Another source described Trump as sounding “pissed,” and claimed the president “steamrolled” the Israeli prime minister on the call.

“Bibi said, ‘OK, OK, just make sure everything is taken care of,’” the second official said.

The president was reportedly aware Hezbollah had been firing on Israeli troops but concerned that Netanyahu was disproportionately escalating the situation — and potentially hurting US negotiations with Tehran.

Shortly after the call, Trump wrote in a post to Truth Social: “I had a very productive call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, and there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security consultation today, at the Kirya in Tel Aviv, with Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu said after the call that Israel’s stance on striking Hezbollah “remains unchanged.”

“Tonight, I spoke with President Trump and told him that if Hezbollah does not cease attacking our cities and citizens — Israel will attack terror targets in Beirut,” he said. “This stance of ours remains unchanged.”

“In parallel, the IDF will continue to operate as planned in southern Lebanon,” he added.
