On June 28, 2026, Shia Muslims held their yearly Ashura procession in Dearborn, marking Imam Hussein’s seventh-century martyrdom, starting near Fordson High School and ending at Ford Woods Park with prayers. Organized by the Ashura Project under the Taha Foundation, participants carried black mourning banners and Palestinian terror flags while chanting in Arabic—no arrests occurred. Conservative voices online called it an ‘invasion’ and pushed for deportations.
