Citing progress in a deal with Iran, Trump paused Project Freedom.
President Donald Trump said that the operation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, dubbed “Project Freedom” by the US, will be paused for a short period to see whether an agreement can be finalized and signed, although the blockade will remain in force but the operation of helping ships through the strait will be paused. It was not clear how long the pause will last.
Trump on Tuesday evening: Based on the request of Pakistan and other Countries, the tremendous Military Success that we have had during the Campaign against the Country of Iran and, additionally, the fact that Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement with Representatives of Iran, we have mutually agreed that, while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom (The Movement of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed (Truth).
Wall Street Journal: Earlier, the United Arab Emirates said it was intercepting new attacks from Iran hours after a Pentagon briefing in which the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Dan Caine, said Iran’s military actions didn’t rise to the level of restarting the war. Tehran denied it had carried out any attack against the U.A.E. but warned of a crushing response if its interests are targeted from Emirati territory (Wall Street Journal).

The Trump administration privately warned Iran ahead of launching its “Project Freedom” operation to guide ships through the Strait of Hormuz, signaling a push to avoid escalation even as Tehran continued aggressive actions in the region.
Of course, Iran is declaring this pause a victory on their end.

We obviously don’t have the information President Trump has. However, these continued pauses are concerning. Iran’s leaders are experts at stalling negotiations, and they seem to be doing just that with President Trump. Iran knows that the midterm elections are fast approaching, so they want to stall the negotiations to a time that would be politically impossible for President Trump to resume military action. Thereby enabling the regime to survive, rebuild, and fight another day. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Blockade is good.
Blockade Plus is better.
But, as usual, nothing is at it seems. So, we’ll see.
