Shots were fired during the 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD) at the Washington Hilton ballroom on Saturday evening, prompting the immediate evacuation of President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President, and other high-profile attendees by Secret Service. Guests were ordered to take cover under tables as heavily armed agents secured the venue.

Loud bangs were heard and guests at the black-tie White House Correspondents’ Dinner scrambled to hide under tables.
Tactical teams with guns drawn took position on the stage where Trump had been sitting before he was evacuated.
President Trump, VP Vance, the First Lady and cabinet members were rushed out of White House Correspondents’ Dinner by Secret Service in DC after reports of gunshots outside the hotel ballroom Saturday night. Hundreds of journalists, cabinet members, celebrities and legislators were all gathered in the ballroom of the Washington Hilton for the annual gala. This is the first time Trump is attending the dinner as president. The hotel is the same site where an attempted assassin wounded President Ronald Reagan in 1981.
