PRESIDENT OF PEACE: Trump Announces 10-Day Ceasefire Between Israel and Lebanon

To be precise, it ought to be framed as a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah; i.e.: A commitment from Israel not to continue strikes on the Islamist terror group that has been a cancer in Lebanon for decades. President Trump: just had excellent conversations with the Highly Respected President Joseph Aoun, of Lebanon, and Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel. These two Leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST…. I will be inviting the Prime Minister of Israel, Bibi Netanyahu, and the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, to the White House for the first meaningful talks between Israel and Lebanon since 1983, a very long time ago. The agreement didn’t resolve all of the chippiness from the Lebanese side, either. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam (a Sunni and opposed to Hezbollah) celebrated the announcement and credited Trump with delivering “a central Lebanese demand” and their primary goal in the summit. President Joseph Aoun, on the other hand, refused to talk directly with Benjamin Netanyahu until after the ceasefire takes effect at 5 ET/midnight local time. Perhaps that may be due to Israel’s insistence on a ceasefire-in-place rather than a withdrawal (HA).

President Trumo: “These two Leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST.”

“On Tuesday, the two Countries met for the first time in 34 years here in Washington, D.C., with our Great Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.”

“I have directed Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Rubio, together with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Razin’ Caine, to work with Israel and Lebanon to achieve a Lasting PEACE.”

“It has been my Honor to solve 9 Wars across the World, and this will be my 10th, so let’s, GET IT DONE!”

President Trump today announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. In a post this morning, the president said that he “had excellent conversations with the Highly Respected President Joseph Aoun, of Lebanon and Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel. These two Leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST.” President Trump added that he will be inviting Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Aoun to the White House for direct talks. In a statement outlining the terms of the ceasefire, the State Department confirmed that “both nations will work to create conditions conducive to lasting peace between the two countries, full recognition of each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and establishing genuine security along their shared border, while preserving Israel’s inherent right to self-defense.” You can read the full State Department press release here. This ceasefire is an important first step toward what could become historic negotiations between Israel and Lebanon. While Hezbollah — Iran’s terror proxy — has made clear it does not consider itself bound by this ceasefire, this moment offers Lebanon’s leaders a chance to reclaim their country and chart a new course free from Iranian proxy control. ADVERTISEMENT For decades, Hezbollah has attacked Americans and Israelis, destabilized the region, and imposed oppressive control over the Lebanese people and their society. Israeli communities have lived under constant attacks from Hezbollah, and any agreement must ensure that Israel has the freedom to defend itself. In the lead-up to the ceasefire, Hezbollah launched barrages of more than 30 rockets at Israeli communities, injuring at least three civilians. President Trump also announced today that Iran has”agreed to give us back the nuclear dust that’s way underground because of the attack we made with the B-2 bombers,” and that he might travel to Islamabad should a deal be signed.
