The World’s Capital of Capitalism. Mamdani has all but declared war on New York City — where capitalism built the modern world.
Communist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani ushers in dark era for the once Big Apple. Pledges to replace individualism with collectivism, big government, and other horrors in chilling inauguration speech. God help New York City.
Newly sworn-in New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani promised to lead the Big Apple into “the warmth of collectivism” – a clearly Marxist/communist reference – as he delivered his inauguration speech Thursday.
Mamdani also embraced the term “democratic socialist,” saying, “”I was elected as a democratic socialist and I will govern as a democratic socialist.”

The great American politcal theorist Ayn Rand on collectivism:
“Collectivism means the subjugation of the individual to a group — whether to a race, class, or state does not matter.”
(from essays in The Virtue of Selfishness)
“The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.”
(often cited from Rand’s political essays)
“When ‘I’ is replaced by ‘we,’ the result is not brotherhood — it is tyranny.”
(paraphrased from Rand’s writings on collectivism)
“There is no such thing as the ‘public interest’ apart from the interests of individuals.”
(Rand on the moral fraud of collectivist language)

Mamdani: We Will Replace The Frigidity Of Rugged Individualism With The Warmth Of Collectivism
By RCP, Jan 1st, 2026
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani promised to replace the “frigidity of rugged individualism” in his inauguration speech on Thursday.
NEW YORK CITY MAYOR ZOHRAN MAMDANI: I welcome the change. For too long, those fluent in the good grammar of civility have deployed decorum to mask agendas of cruelty. Many of these people have been betrayed but in our administration their needs will be met. Their hopes and dreams and interests will be reflected transparently in government.
ADVERTISEMENTThey will shape our future and if for too long these communities have existed as distinct from one another, we will draw this city closer together. We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism. If our campaign demonstrated that we yearn for solidarity then let this government foster it. Because no matter what you eat, how you pray or where you come from, the words that most define us are the two we all share, New Yorkers.
