Mossad: The IDF Won’t Leave Home Without It

28

Mossad is tiny, with a total personnel of 7,000 — but its intelligence operation in the Middle East has not been surpassed even by the secret services of much larger spy agencies, including those of the U.S., the U.K., and Russia. More on what Mossad monitored in Iran can be found here:

Mossad agents had been monitoring nuclear sites in Iran for nearly 15 years before the start of the Israel-Iran War, The Times reported on Friday.

According to leaked intelligence documents seen by The Times, the Mossad realized that Iran’s capability, knowledge, and components of the nuclear program expanded beyond the main sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

An intelligence source told The Times that the Mossad had “boots on the ground” at several different locations across Iran since 2010.

In other words, Mossad has been working at sites across Iran for the past 15 years, building up its cache of intelligence on exactly where nuclear sites are located, how they are configured, who are the indispensable personnel — senior nuclear scientists — for Iran’s nuclear program, and who, among the Iranians with access to, or knowledge of, the nuclear sites, may be so disaffected by the mullahs’ despotic reign, or financially needy enough, to act as agents for Mossad.

In the 12-day war with Iran, the IDF, based on information supplied by Mossad agents and their Iranian collaborators, located the whereabouts of 14 senior nuclear scientists and proceeded to assassinate them. Their accumulated knowledge will be hard to replace. It will also be harder to find replacements for those scientists, for how many Iranian nuclear physicists would now be willing to take on a job that brings with it a target painted on their back?

The ease with which the IDF located and killed several senior generals in the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps must have been the result of precise intelligence that could only have come from Mossad and its Iranian collaborators who had managed to infiltrate the IRGC at the highest level. Right now the Iranians are in panic mode and have already rounded up nearly a thousand people whom they claim to have been spies for Israel. Who knows how many of those were working with the Israelis? How many loyal to the regime were rounded up, implicated by false stories planted by the Mossad suggesting they were working for Israel, In order to sow division and confusion among Iranian counter-spies?

For the past decade, the Mossad has been infiltrating every aspect of Iran’s military threat: the IRGC, the nuclear program, the ballistic missile program, the Iranian army’s senior leaders. The results of its deep penetration can be seen in the fantastic level of pinpoint destruction, of both key military men and nuclear scientists, as well as a dozen nuclear facilities, a thousand ballistic missiles, and several missile manufacturing plants, destruction that extends all the way from Sarjad in the west to Mashhad in the east. And all this destruction was achieved by the IDF in only twelve days.

What can Iran now do? It has managed to obtain a ceasefire, thanks to Trump’s diktat that filled Israel with chagrin. This has put a halt to the battering of Iran from pillar to post by the IDF, that still had a list of more than 150 targets in Tehran that it had wanted to finish off, but may now not get that chance. And the regime can lie to the Iranian people, pretending that it, and not Israel, had “won the 12-day war.” Otherwise, Iran can only wait. It has no useful proxies left — the Houthis are no more than an occasional nuisance to Israel — and no allies, either, for with the overthrow of Assad Syria has gone from ally to enemy, and Russia, Iran’s other ally, is now preoccupied with its war against Ukraine, that has already cost the Russian army one million dead and wounded.

The Iranian regime is in a panic, and does not know quite what to do. It has rounded up more than 700 people so far, whom it accuses of working for Israel. Meanwhile, once the rally-round-the-flag effect has waned in Iran, we can expect the 80% of the Iranian public who have expressed their hatred for the despotic theocracy they must endure will again focus their attention on the regime. When they realize that the nuclear program pursued by their fanatical rulers has cost the Iranians more than one trillion dollars in sunk costs and in costs resulting from the American sanctions, a program that now lies in ruins, their fury may be enough to fuel an uprising that, at long last, will lead to the overthrow of the Supreme Leader and his cohort of True Believers.
