A man was arrested after three people were injured in a stabbing attack at a train station in Switzerland, police said.
The attack took place at Winterthur train station, near Zurich. The victims, all Swiss nationals aged 28, 43 and 52, were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police said the suspect is a 31-year-old Swiss man who used a bladed weapon. Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the attack.
An eyewitness told a local newspaper that he heard the man shouting “Allahu Akbar,” which means “Allah is greater” in Arabic, shortly before the attack began.Local media reported that a group of schoolchildren was passing through the area at the time. A teacher was reportedly seen standing in front of the children to protect them.
Another witness, a taxi driver, said the attacker was moving through the station underpass and attacking people.
Photos shared by Swiss media showed large parts of the station cordoned off as police carried out a major operation.
