It seems quite clear that Iran’s leaders do not believe that President Trump will ever order a military strike on their nuke sites. While we don’t know all of the details of the U.S-Iran nuke negotiations, some of what is being reported is quite concerning. We are going to have to wait and see what happens. If Iran is allowed to enrich uranium, it will be able to build several nuclear bombs. Which it would surely attempt to do when President Trump is out of office. If not sooner.
Khamenei will consider all this as he contemplates the most serious decision of his tenure: whether finally to cross the nuclear threshold. How scary does he think America is under Trump? The idea that Iran should never have nuclear *weapons* is a repeat of the Obama-Biden policy, famously exposed in the Biden-Ryan VP debate in 2012. The Republican position, which remains sensible, was that Iran should not have any nuclear enrichment at all https://t.co/o7aG6rbjaM

Reports of a joint enrichment facility on Iranian soil—or just a 3-year freeze—are deeply troubling. Both give Khamenei and the IRGC access to the bomb-making materials they need.
Zero enrichment capability. Full dismantlement. That’s the only acceptable deal.

Iran rejects temporary freeze on enrichment, says it’s not worried about sanctions
Day after Trump hints agreement may be imminent, Tehran’s Foreign Ministry says interim deal not on table while president says Tehran ‘will survive’ even if talks fall apart
By TOI, May 27th, 2025
Iran will not consider temporarily suspending uranium enrichment to secure a nuclear deal with the US, a foreign ministry spokesperson said on Monday, adding that no date had yet been set for a sixth round of talks with Washington.
ADVERTISEMENTMeanwhile, the country’s president appeared to downplay the consequences should talks fall apart, saying Iran won’t starve under sanctions.
The negotiations between Washington and Tehran aim to resolve a decades-long dispute over Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and both sides have taken a tough stance in public over the issue of Iran’s uranium enrichment.
