Bangladesh protests: Hindu councillor shot dead, Hindu journalist hacked to death; Hindu houses, shops, ISKCON, Kali temples attacked amid violent clashes perpetrated by Jihadi elements.

Thousands of Bangladeshi protesters with a fundamental bias demanding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resign clashed with government supporters Sunday in one of the deadliest days since demonstrations began.

Sabita Das Pal | HENB | New Delhi | Aug 5, 2024:: A Hindu councillor Kajal Roy from Rangpur, was among the 100 people killed in the violent protests across Bangladesh on Sunday. Reports indicate that houses, business, shops and temples belonging to Hindus, including ISKCON and Kali temples, were targeted, forcing devotees to seek shelter in a perilous situation. Reports also came in that On Sunday, fundamentalists connected to Jamiat-e-Islami groups hacked to death one Pradip Bhowmik, who was the Secretary of Raiganj Press Club.

Thousands of Bangladeshi protesters demanding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resign clashed with government supporters Sunday in one of the deadliest days since demonstrations began. But, the protests have now also been shaped as anti-Hindu and anti-Hindu movements. The fundamental elements in Bangladesh are now trying to motivate the people to establish a Sharia State in Bangladesh dumping its secular structure whatsoever.

A curfew has been in effect since 6 pm on Sunday and will continue. A three-day closure of all establishments, including banks, has been announced by the government. However, essential services such as hospitals, water, gas, and electricity will continue uninterrupted indefinitely. After the resignation of Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, the Army of Bangladesh has taken the charge to make an interim Govt there taking representatives of all political parties. As per latest reports, Sheikh Hasina has now exiled in India and taken refuge in New Delhi.

“It was a ‘Bloody Sunday’ today. Miscreants have turned the violence communal. Social media like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have been blocked,” Professor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, a political commentator from Bangladesh, told this newspaper.

Bangladesh has been marred by the biggest crisis after Independence. While more than 100 people have been killed in anti-quota protests, incidents of Hindus being attacked in some parts of Bangladesh have been reported.

In Noakhali district of Bangladesh, anti-quota protests have escalated and protestors started attacking Hindus. In exclusive footage accessed by HENB, attackers were seen trying to enter a Hindu home in Noakhali. They tried to break the gate of one Tanusreya Bhatta’s residence.

In the footage, women were seen terrified and crying while saying “bhagwan, bhagwan”.

In the above video the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh in the name of anti-Hassina or anti-Quota protests can be seen as available in various social media platforms.

Protesters killed two Hindus in the Rangpur town. They attacked and lynched Hindu Awami League leader Haradhan Roy and his nephew Kajal.

Top sources told CNN-News18 that the Indian government was in touch with the top brass in Bangladesh. “We are talking to the top brass of the Bangladesh Government. Sheikh Hasina is also listening to our advice and we are working closely on this issue,” sources in the Indian government said.

Sources said the opposition in Bangladesh asked students and people to come with sticks and weapons to counter police and army. According to sources, citizens were also asked not to pay taxes and utility bills to show their dissent.

According to News 16, “In exclusive footage, the Bangladesh army was seen supporting the movement by firing automatic weapons.”

The death toll over 100 was the highest on August 4, and that included at least 13 policemen in Enayetpur Police Station. This was the highest number for a single day from any protests in Bangladesh’s recent history, surpassing the 67 deaths reported on July 19, according to a report by Reuters.

Last month, at least 150 people were killed and thousands injured in violence. At least 300 people had died since the violence began last month, AFP reported on Monday.

With the ongoing clashes in Bangladesh, India has advised the citizens to refrain from travelling to Bangladesh until further notice, according to ANI.

In the name of anti-Quota, anti-Hassina movement the fundamental perpetrators of such violent protests are snatching all the human rights of a large section of peaceful people of Bangladesh including the minority people residing there.

The International rights forum like Amnesty, Human Rights Watch etc. including the United Nations must send peace missions in Bangladesh before the situation worsened further.
