‘Wash it down with Lysol’: Ana Navarro ‘fine’ with Trump taking drug with ‘serious side effect

ADVERTISEMENTGOP strategist Ana Navarro said she is “fine” with President Trump taking a drug with potentially dangerous side effects.
Navarro, a CNN political commentator, responded to Trump’s claim that he was taking hydroxychloroquine in consultation with the White House physician, saying she would be fine if the president wanted to “wash” the drug down with Lysol.
“Trump says he’s taking Hydroxychloroquine. It’s a leading story today. He often acts like a toddler, but he’s an adult. If he wants to take a drug w/serious side effects, including causing heart and kidney issues, let him!” Navarro tweeted. “If he wants to wash it down with Lysol, that’s fine too.”

She was referring to Trump floating the idea last month of injections of disinfectant to cure COVID-19 patients.
ADVERTISEMENTTrump told reporters on Monday at a White House roundtable discussion with restaurant executives and industry leaders that he was taking the hydroxychloroquine to protect against COVID-19.
“A lot of good things have come out. And you’d be surprised at how many people are taking it, especially the front-line workers, before you catch it. The front-line workers — many, many are taking it. I happen to be taking it,” he said.
The president added that he has been taking the drug for a “couple of weeks” and is still doing so.”I think it’s good. I’ve heard a lot of good stories,” Trump said.
Trump has repeatedly touted hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug, as a potential therapeutic treatment for those who test positive for COVID-19.
There is not yet an established treatment or cure for the coronavirus. At least one study shows it does not work against COVID-19 and could cause heart problems.
Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said more “definitive studies” are needed on hydroxychloroquine before it and others could be considered “knockout drugs.”
