Congressman Dan Crenshaw decimates Bill Maher during heated debate over Trump

Story continues below advertisement

“And when people make these accusations, I have to ask them: Is the goal to make Trump look bad or is the goal to get to the truth? Because there are two separate sets of answers for that.”

By Lifezette, April 19, 2020

Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw of Texas got into a heated debate with host Bill Maher on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.” The two were discussing President Donald Trump and his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Congressman Crenshaw, who served as a Navy SEAL and lost his right eye in a military service-related explosion, said, “When people make these accusations, I have to ask them: Is the goal to make Trump look bad or is the goal to get to the truth? Because there are two separate sets of answers for that.”

Maher slammed the president for his “pass-the-buck, lie, finger-point, and shirk-responsibility” tendencies.

Maher slammed the president for his “pass-the-buck, lie, finger-point, and shirk-responsibility” tendencies.

Mr. Crenshaw said that everyone should root for the success of the president—especially during a global pandemic, arguing that “the president’s success is certainly tied to the success of the country.”

Crenshaw continued, “Republicans always get asked this question and this demand where we have to answer, ‘What do we feel about him? Don’t you want to comment about his latest tweet and the way he lashed out?’ And no, I don’t. I can’t defend everything. He doesn’t have the same style as I do. I don’t consider him to be my spiritual guide by any means.”

I like him too. He recognizes that when one gets to the truth, one discovers that those who “bad mouth” the president with negative comments, never seem to have any evidence of what ever justifies their accusations, and only broadly, and without substance, try to crucify Trump. Trump intended to keep this country from falling apart in panic. Yet, they accuse him of lying, racism and other nonsense. Trump put together a great team to deal with the pandemic, yet, they find reason to put down the president though he is using his business skills to get us thru this pandemic. Sure, I recognize that Trump has narcissim tendencies that influence his conduct, and his need to “combat” the naysayers thru his twitter responses sometimes has a tendency to cause him to kick himself in the butt, but, all in all, I believe he has done more good for this country than any of his predecessors over the last fifty years. Can we now turn away from him and his party and accept the Democrats programs of socialism , with a large amount of naivety, elect a president who is one step away from senility and who would capitulate to places like China and others who hate us; I think not. I am mad as hell at those out there who refuse to see and accept the real truth and who are infected with the Trump syndrome.

What really bother me is so called “conservatives” imagining that TRUMP is part of the swamp! This is ludicrous! I may not like all his decisions but he is not part of the swamp and certainly not gaining financially from it. He has LOST money being President. It is only love of country that is driving him on and he likes a challenge. He likes to do things in a BIG way.

I have never seen any President put up with so much abuse 24/7 and outright lies by the DEMS and often the GOPe when they side with the DEMS. We should be grateful that he is willing to put up with four more years of the same.

If you believe that violating the Second, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments make one a good Republican. That foul bastid has been pushing Red Flag Laws for quite some time.

If that’s a “good Republican”, what is a bad one?

felix1999

I wasn’t aware of that. I was commenting on his exchange highlighted here and how FEW GOP Reps. do what he did in this exchange.

Do you have any links on him violating that? If not, that’s okay. I know you keep track of that.

I find your discourse to be totally off base, and you remind me of those Antifa people who do not allow anyone’s non-violent opinions that they reject to be heard.. The fact that this congressman, who has been through and actually was shot at in combat situations, and has now an opinion that their should be debate in some manner to reasonably determine who might be a dangerous gun owner, so as to protect the public from acts of murder, should be acceptable for debate by all sides to the issue, and castigating him because he has that opinion is not the way we, as civilized people, should be expected to act. You have every right to disagree, but I believe that it should be obvious to you that there are many good people out there who believe something must be done to try to end the gun violence. Therefore, I find your commentary inappropriate .

Oh, you’ve been able to actually comprehend the written word? Amazing.

Red Flag Laws directly violate the Second, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments.

If you, and your ilk, despise the Constitution of the United States of America THAT much, then attempt amending it, rather than pushing laws that violate it.
As far as him being a combat veteran, I am as well. I didn’t lose an eye. However, since when did losing an eye give one the right to publicly push laws that violate the constitution?
You, along with your Left Wingnut Regressive ilk, including your dearly beloved antifa fall into the same bloody mess.
Therefore, I find your “commentary” inappropriate.

Dennis

Without challenging your comment about “red flag” laws, my point is that having proper non-violent discussions about different opinions concerning whether or not those proposing laws and determining whether they might meet the Constitutional test, should be the rule and not be the exception, to be rejected out of hand, even if any conclusion will require an amendment. I happen to be a student of the Constitution, and it is a brilliantly crafted document in all respects, but it was created over 200 years ago, and while it still is on point and is the basis for the American way, our forefathers could have then never seen the development of weapons in the future, as the weapons of their day were limited to mainly a single expression of defense, while todays weapons can kill many in seconds, and they were motivated by their concern that the citizens needed protection from a rogue government. I do not characterize myself as a leftist, as I abhor the Democratic parties socialist, hand out policies and their failure to recognize that its legal citizens should always come first, but I cannot, nor would I deny them, the right to non-violently make their proposals, and I happen to be one of those people on the right who does believe that some sought of better gun control should be discussed, whether by Congress to amend (but their objection to a term limit proposal will preclude that body from promoting any amendments), or in a States Convention setting.

Such a constitutional “scholar” TOO forkin’ funny. The “musket argument” is as tired and empty, today, as it was when some Left Wingnut Regressive first introduced it. The arms, that the constitution stated as a right that shall not be infringed, were the arms of any active military at the time.

Again, if you Left Wingnut Regressives want to amend the constitution, regarding the Second, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments, it is your right to do so. Differing from your ilk (Left Wingnut Regressives and antifa) I shall not deny your right to make constitutional alterations. However, do not advocate laws that violate those amendments.

Break out Article Five, get 2/3rds of the House and Senate .. and then take it to the ballot.

Until then, keep your antifa loving Left Wingnut Regressive laws, that violate the constitution, off of the board. G-d did not give special rights to Left Wing Regressive, antifa loving, fascists a free reign and neither did the founding fathers.

Your comment is exactly the kind of comment I would expect from one with a bad case of Trump syndrome. Felix’s comment was right on. Your claim that Trump has violated our Constitution is the kind of comments that I hear from time to time, and when I ask those what he has done, I find their responses to be without substance. You and people like you accuse the man of lying, racism and every negative you can find in your vocabulary, all without substance. Perfect Trump is not, but your failure to realize that the man is a realist and believes that America must come first, in a world where we are hated for our success, is the common ground of those who continue to suffer from the Trump syndrome. Sad!!!

Obviously, little Dennis, you have a severe problem with reading comprehension. That comment was directed at felix1999’s statement that Representative Crenshaw was a “good Republican”.

I trust that English is not your mother tongue. Even allowing that it isn’t, you truly should take some in-depth REMEDIAL English As a Second Language courses.

If it IS your native first language …. You have some problems, very severe problems, WAY beyond the scope of leaning to read.

The USA is basically a business and that is why DT as a business man is best fitted to run it. Most of these ‘professional politicians’ have never done an honest day’s work in their whole lives, yet somehow mange to accumulate a lot of money while in office.

Bill Maher has a big ego and his biggest accomplishment is being a know-it-all and on tv.

Progressives like Maher (and Sanders) don’t concern me. They’re deliberately provocative and trying to press peoples buttons. You know they’re doing it which is what makes it less effective propaganda.

Keep you eye on the real enemy. It’s the American Masters of Propaganda, Clinton, Bush, and Obama who over the past 30 years, have inflicted unfathomable damage to this nation. Their messaging is always about saving the children, the middle class and of course their favorite poster child, people of color. That’s what makes their propaganda so effective. It’s selfless. Folks don’t know they’re being indoctrinated.

The filthy truth of course is the opposite. The Clinton / Bush / Obama cabal have written the globalists a blank check, prosecuted pointless wars for profit, sold out industrial America, and drained trillions via debt out of the US economy. Selfishly, for the benefit of their elitist friends in business and academia.

Save your ammo for these traitors. It warrants the death penalty.

If you care about saving this nation, forward this message.

I like Bill Maher in that he is an old school liberal, he may be wrong more than 99% of the time, but at least he calls out the leftists and haters in his party.

Other than that, he is trash, a total hypocrite and a misogynist in his own right. He has no issue with hundreds of thousands or even millions dying to achieve his political wish list.

I used to respect Maher for his honesty on a few matters. Most importantly, he was more honest and realistic on the bane and scourge of Islam and Muslims than most Republicans and conservatives. Ironically, Trump is (or at least he once was during his campaign) more honest and realistic about Islam than any other politician, democrat or republican, One would think that Maher would at least have praised him for his views on Islam and his proposed Muslim ban, for example. Thus the dementia and intensity of Maher’s hatred of Trump is bewildering and somewhat inexplicable.

Bill Maher runs hot and cold. Sometimes he makes some profound and credible statements but at other times spews typical ultra-leftist crap.

It is like we all were taught about taking true-false tests in school, if any part of the statement is false, the whole thing is false.

A little bit of learning is a dangerous thing.

TDS and liberal/Democrats have no idea was TRUTH really is. If THEY decide they don’t like something because it does not fit their narrative, then that becomes TRUTH FOR ALL and if anyone goes against their truth, they are then labeled as traitors. And, WE ALL KNOW who these TDS fools, liberals and Democrats are and why they are being insane and unreasonable. IT ALL STARTED IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN WITH THE SNAKE.
