Several Democratic presidential candidates had harsh words for Benjamin Netanyahu after the Israeli prime minister, just days before the nation’s election Tuesday, pledged to annex Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank if re-elected.
Story continues below advertisementFormer Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke slammed Netanyahu as a “racist” who stands in the way of any broad peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians.
“The U.S.-Israel relationship is one of the most important relationships that we have on the planet, and that relationship, if it is to be successful, must transcend partisanship in the United States, and it must be able to transcend a prime minister who is racist as he warns about Arabs coming to the polls, who wants to defy any prospect for peace as he threatens to annex the West Bank and who has sided with a far-right racist party in order to maintain his hold on power,” O’Rourke told reporters on the campaign trail in Iowa.

The right-wing Likud was once the party of the educated bourgeoisie. Today it is voted for by the lower economic class, which feels excluded and oppressed by the élite.
The majority of the Israeli left is made up of senior state officials, middle-senior pensioners, professors, professionals, whose careers and lives have always been based on state institutions. They grew up in the world of Ben Gurion, while Israeli society was changing.
But the majority of the Ashkenazis do vote for Netanyahu. Like those who have a shop, or are an entrepreneur.
The left is voted for by old pensioners in nursing homes raised in a socialist society. The immigrants vote on the right. The young people, those who arrived thirty years ago, also vote right. The poor in Israel are less socialist than the rich.

All these libs believe that it is Israel standing in the way of peace with the “palestinians” (no such place). Fact: Yasar Arafat was offered EVERYTHING the “palestinians” demanded in peace talks. You know what he did? He got up and walked out!!! The “palestinians” do not want peace, they want a constant enemy in Israel to use for terrorist recruitment. there are plenty of places they could call home but they want Israel and they want all the Jews dead. The facts of history show that that land has been Israeli since they stopped wandering the desert with Moses. Islam was not invented until the 7th century AD. How could they possibly claim the land in a right of return?
