Leftists and Muslims, on campus and off, consistently oppose counterterror efforts because they supposedly demonize Muslims. Meanwhile, the jihad terror threat is very real and growing quickly. What would the students at Salford University say now, after their former schoolmate Salman Abedi committed jihad mass murder? Is there anything that the left will allow in the way of resistance to jihad? No — it all demonizes Muslims. As far as the left is concerned, we all must simply lie down and die.

STUDENTS at the British university that the Manchester bomber briefly attended have tried to sabotage the Government’s anti-terror scheme over concerns it “demonises Muslims”.

Salford University’s student union passed a motion last year to boycott the Prevent initiative, and “educate” undergraduates about its “dangers”.

The motion was part of the National Union of Students’ ‘Students not Suspects’ campaign, which has been linked to CAGE, the terrorist apologist group.

Salman Abedi attended Salford University between 2014 and 2016, where he studied business and management.

He left the university last year, and it is currently unknown whether he was radicalised during his studies or afterward.

The Prevent initiative legally requires universities to inform police of any signs a student might be getting radicalised.

The scheme is designed to stop students being groomed by extremists before it is too late, by putting him in the hands of experts who can help with those at risk.

However, a 2016 meeting of the university’s union shows members voted in favour of boycotting the scheme.

They resolved the union and its officers would “not engage with the Prevent strategy” – effectively meaning they would not report radicalised students to the police.

Yesterday, Muslim student leaders in other Manchester universities continued calls for the Prevent to be scrapped.

Mohammed Ullah, the Muslim chaplain for Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan University urged society to “move on” and said the scheme needed to be “wrapped up”.

He told Radio 5 Live: “As it stands, Prevent is a toxic brand.

“It isolates the very people it is supposed to help because it turns people into spies against their own community.”

He added: “The Muslim community in Manchester are especially against it. We need to work with the Muslim community instead of turning them into suspects constantly.”
