Washington Post calls for end to delay in posting our anti-jihad ads

10

Why would WaPo urge the running of our ads? Because they know the DC transit Authority is going to lose and lose big.

They continue to defame and smear, and those obnoxious and hateful thumbsuckers over at the Washington Post call the message obnoxious and hateful. But many of their commenters are more informed than the editorial board is.

"Metro should end its delay of running ‘Defeat Jihad’ ad" Washington Post Editorial

Story continues below advertisement

NOTHING IN THE ad that the American Freedom Defense Initiative wants to place
on local buses and trains in the Washington area violates Metro’s scant
guidelines on advertising, which ban false or misleading ads and not
much else. The group’s ad reads, “In any war between the civilized man
and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat
Jihad.”

That message may be seen as inflammatory, obnoxious or hateful but, as a federal judge noted in July in ordering New York’s subway system to accept the ad, it is protected speech under the First Amendment.

Editorials represent the views of The Washington Post as an
institution, as determined through debate among members of the editorial
board. News reporters and editors never contribute to editorial board
discussions, and editorial board members don’t have any role in news
coverage.

An incendiary group’s right to offend.

So it is unlikely that Metro’s decision to “defer” placing the
ad on buses and trains will survive a lawsuit brought by the sponsoring
group. Nor does Metro’s stated rationale — a spokesman said that Metro
wanted to wait “out of concern for public safety, given current world
events” — seem likely to hold much water in a constitutional debate.

Whats more offensive? A sign that speaks the truth about Jihad, or Muslims blocking the streets of New York anytime they feel like it’s time to pray. Taxi drivers blocking the streets care less about the traffic behind them that might be late for work or for an appointment. Why is this allowed? Why has New York submitted to Islam and not enforced the laws that would prevent such actions by Muslims?

I think there have been many instances in which public safety does trump rights, in the view of government.

What are the instances of where public safety trumps rights? There is only a public safety issue because savages are making threats and committing violence. It is not the victims of these threats and violence that are the cause of it but the savages. Flowers and a box of chocolates are not going to placate them nor is preventing these (truthful) ads. In fact there is no way to placate savages any more than you can placate alligators.

Pamela, I suspect they also want to publicize how “haters” support Romney. They need to focus on something “sensational” and hope that will distract people so they won’t look at Obama’s record of failures for the past 3 1/2 years.

What they don’t get is that if they had just allowed the ads to run in the first place, they would have been gone in a month and only a few subway riders who actually read ads would have seen them. All this resistance and publicity gives the ads a national and global audience. Good for us supporters of free speech but so stupid on their part.

the Washignton Post is in the right on this: these freedom adds should be permitted on display ASAP. Americans need to rememebr the danger of jihad. we all remember 9/11.

“An incendiary group’s right to offend”.
………………………………………………………………………
I can’t imagine why anyone would be offended by jihadist mass murderers being called savages. I suppose those who lack a moral compass.
