Freedom Fighters Fighting Long Struggle Against Mega-Mosque In Henrico County, Virginia

Obama is at war with the American people. He is suing Arizona (on illegal immigration), now Florida (illegal voter registration), and a host of others. He sued one small school in Berkeley, Illinois to impose the hajj on its faculty. And he sued a New Jersey prison to impose the hijab on a female correction officer.

Obama wields the Holder department of Justice much like Hitler commandeered the Volksstrafgesetzbuch ("people's code of criminal justice").

Here is the latest on the monster mosque proposed in Henrico County, Virginia. Another monster-mosque in a small quiet area where the local people are fighting for the integrity, safety, peace and aesthetic of their town. The cacophony of traffic, noise, parking etc. would be utterly disruptive.

It is time to repeal RLUIPA. It has long been abused by Islamic supremacist groups to construct beachheads, mega mosques tied to jihadist groups in small tiny neighborhoods.

In Employment Div. Dep't of Human Resources v. Smith, 494 U.S. 872, 883–85 (1990), the Supreme Court held that a substantial burden on religious exercise was subject to strict scrutiny where the law "lent itself to individualized governmental assessment of the reasons for the relevant conduct." It was not a case permitting exceptions for freedom of religion when generally applicable health and welfare regulations were in question, and it should be remembered that Smith lost this case (involving a denial of unemployment benefits where the litigant had used illegal drugs in a religious ceremony). In line with the scrutiny regime established in West Coast Hotel v. Parrish in 1937, the Court ruled that unless the law is not one of general applicability, regardless of specific circumstance, government may act if policy is rationally related to a legitimate government interest, even if the act imposes a substantial burden on the exercise of religion.

RLUIPA is being used by Hamas groups in the US to destroy whole neighborhoods and towns.

The lede in the Henrico fight is that the Department of Justice (citing RLUIPA) is pressuring the Henrico supervisors to approve this gigantic mosque (30,277 on 5.2 acres) and they are saying RLUIPA prohibits considerations of traffic safety, water runoff and other traditional matters dealt with by local zoning boards and "federalized" them.  The locals accepted a deal which says that of traffic becomes bad or if there are water runoff problems then the county will shut down the mosque and school until it is rectified.  That, of course, will never happen.

Obama is now a very public partner in the expansion of Islam.  They have bullied and bought the politicians and they call in Holder's DOJ as muscle.

This will be the template for future mosque land fights.

There has been an alarming development in the struggle of citizens in rural Henrico County, Virginia to halt  or, at least, regulate a planned 30, 227 square foot mega-mega mosque on 5.2 acres of land  in a very rural area outside Richmond – the intervention of  Attorney General Eric Holder and the U.S. Department of Justice.

At a hearing earlier this week, Henrico County Board of Supervisors Chairman Richard Glover said Justice Department lawyers had told the Board that the federal Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act  (RLUIPA) shields the mosque construction from local concerns about hazardous and excessive traffic, inadequate parking , high water runoff and other land-use concerns.

In a week when public records indicated that officials of CAIR and other jihadist groups met with White House officials “hundreds of times” in the last three years, the Obama Justice Department waves the RLUIPA bill in the faces of county officials here in the land of Jefferson, Madison and Washington and warns that mosque construction is sacrosanct and not subject to the same requirements as other structures.

Glover and other supervisors listened patiently to neighbors near the mosque site complaints about existing (bad) conditions at a much smaller existing building and predict dire consequences of construction of a huge mosque and school.

They made a show out of ordering the county representative to got meet in the hall and discuss it with the mosque representative.

But near the conclusion of the meeting, after the expected political posturing, Glover and the other politicians had one” solution” – require the inclusion of an additional entrance in the site plan.

In other words, a cosmetic fix which avoids any of the difficult “political issues” and does nothing to protect the citizens.

In their testimony earlier in the evening, several speakers anticipated the board’s inaction.

“If the Board of Supervisors in Norwalk, Connecticut can challenge the size of a ‘monster’ structure in a residential area,” local activist Paul Thorne asked,” why can’t you Board of Supervisors do the same?

“There is strong resentment at being bullied by the DOJ for the sake of political correctness for those who do not honor our nation’s Pledge of Allegiance, do not subscribe to the laws if our land and those with questionable citizenship and affiliations.”

The Obama Justice Department stepped into a local zoning fight and invoked federal law to further the expansion of Islam in America. This is a template for future mosque construction (at least until the November election) – invoke RLUIPA and the Justice Department will dispatch the muscle to enforce its application no matter how unreasonable.

Last night was no victory.  Technically, last night was a hearing of an appeal by Sylvia Wright.  The Board rejected her appeal, refused to consider 300 names on a petition submitted by the neighbors and voted to proceed with the caveat that the county would halt the operation of the mosque and madrassah if any of the nightmare scenarios predicted by neighbors occurred. The Islamic Center of Richmond has announced they will build 3 mosques.  The board did reverse their decision against the first mosque.  They voted to approve the second mosque but agreed to hear Sylvia Wright's appeal which they rejected last night.  There are few specifics available about the third mosque other than an address.  Local activists have heard different versions about when and if the third mosque will be developed.  The two most popular are it will be another mega mosque or it will not go forward because they will consolidate much of their activity to #2.

The citizens of Henrico have colored inside the lines and talked about land use and traffic impact and all of the things normally considered in a planning/zoning  matter such as this.  Holder's attorneys shake RLUOPA in the faces of the Henrico officials and the earth shakes under their feet.  The supervisors rattle their sabres and vow to shut the mosque down if it does any or all of the horrendous things the neighbors fear.  But they refuse to advocate for their constituents and offer no resistance to the DOJ strongarming.

At last night's hearing, after the vote was cast to proceed with the mega-mega mosque construction, they moved to the public comment section of their meeting and pointedly said they would not hear additional testimony about the mosque.  Still, a mosque official stood up and insisted on thanking the Board and castigating the county citizenry with some rhetoric about hoping that the community will learn that all people should live together.  The supervisors permitted the guy to go on and it was only after the audience yelled "Sit down!" that he stopped.  

As long as the Henrico citizens are silent on the dangers these mosques pose and as long as they accept the "aw shucks" deceptions of their local politicians, they will continue to get hammered by the jihadis.  I will take part in a meeting soon and we will lay out a plan for educating and mobilizing grassroots there.  It took awhile but many of the Henrico citizens are ready to fight and not a moment too soon. Vote every one of them out and replace them with men and women of integrity.

Activists across America need to be prepared to fight the Justice Department now along with the usual cast of smarmy Muslim Brotherhood operatives. We have started communicating this information to the good people who are after Attorney General Holder in the Congress.  This will probably get worse the closer we get to November.

For many, this fight has been a long one.  In Henrico and other places it is just getting started.  The fight doesn't end until we surrender.  Never!
