Shock and awe: the United States Marine Corps presented me with the flag flown on September 11th over Camp Leatherneck, "amid the battlefields of Afghanistan during decisive operations against enemy forces in Helmand Province." Can you imagine such an honor? But there's more. When a soldier at Camp Leatherneck heard that I was to be given the flag, he asked that the MP armband (seen here) that he wore before he lost his arm in combat be sent along with the flag. I was presented with both. Overwhelming.
