Florida escaped the blue blight. How? Governor Ron DeSantis gets high marks for putting SAVE Act’s central ideas into practice. He tightened ID requirements for mail-ballot requests, put tighter limits on ballot harvesting, required annual checks of the voter rolls and created an office to investigate election crimes. The new citizenship verification rules largely take effect in 2027, but those earlier safeguards were already in place when Floridians voted. Washington had years to act. Florida did. That’s the blueprint the rest of the country should follow. The results would have been vastly different.
