There has been a series of alarming acts of violence that has to add a level of concern to average Minnesotans. Authorities are now watching a retaliation cycle. Among the shootings was a shootout at Eden Prairie’s homecoming game: Law enforcement authorities in Eden Prairie said Saturday that a shooting that injured two people during Friday’s homecoming football game was gang-related. In a statement posted on social media, the Eden Prairie Police Department said that though the investigation continues, police believe it involved gangs. Eden Prairie police said there was a large altercation west of the school’s Aerie Stadium before the shooting…. Police said earlier that the two people injured in the shooting were believed to have been targeted. On Saturday, officials did not release their names but said they are an 18-year-old male and a 17-year old male from St. Paul and are both of Somali descent. The 18-year old was discharged from Hennepin Healthcare on Saturday, and the 17-year-old remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries (Star Tribune).

Fox News: Violence tied to Somali-American gangs in the Twin Cities metro erupted in recent days, with law enforcement recovering nearly 100 casings after a gunfight captured on a resident’s surveillance camera — as officials warn they need help to contain the problem before it escalates. The warning follows a burst of violence across several Twin Cities suburbs — including a Bloomington shootout that left nearly 100 shell casings and another shooting in Eden Prairie — as law enforcement says the incidents have entered a retaliation cycle and officials race to disrupt the groups before the violence evolves into more entrenched drug- and money-driven crime. “We have the opportunity to fix it,” Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher said of a surge in Somali gang violence across the Twin Cities — but warned authorities could be facing a much more difficult problem if the groups escalate the resources they use (Fox News).

Guy Benson looks at Attorney General Keith Ellison’s silence (Washington Examiner).
Somali Gang Violence Could Turn Minnesota Red
Things were bad enough for the DFL [Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party; AKA the Democrats] before October. The situation has grown exponentially worse, however, thanks to suburban shootouts between Somali gangs and terror threats that have emerged from the immigrant community that the DFL has ferociously embraced, even through fraud and violence. Suddenly, the social ills of unassimilated immigrants have exploded into communities like Edina, a wealthy enclave in Minneapolis, as well as middle-class Bloomington and Eden Prairie, where I used to work. No politician has gone as far as Flanagan and Ellison to wrap themselves around the Somali community. Flanagan even wore a hijab while declaring her solidarity with them in December, while appearing with a woman who later became a suspect in the fraud rings. Suddenly, Tafoya has a bounty of issues in the Senate race against an opponent that was a key member of the administration that let Minnesota turn into a third-world disaster of corruption and violence: “Peggy Flanagan refuses to call out the real issue: Somali gang violence. Today, federal law enforcement foiled an ISIS-inspired terrorist attack at the Mall of America. Peggy is captive to the far left.” … Voters have no excuse to stick with the failed policies of the past twenty years that transformed a state known for its stability and integrity into a morass of corruption and danger. Have Minnesotans finally had enough of the progressive-Academia elitists? This could be the surprise of the midterms (Hot Air).
