From the Executive Order: The body of water currently known as Lake Ontario is a tremendous asset to the United States and part of our Nation’s heritage.  With the deepest parts of the Lake’s waters lying within United States territory, the United States claims most of the Lake’s volume…. In recognition of this flourishing economic resource and its critical importance to our Nation’s economy and its people, I am directing that the Lake officially be renamed as Lake America (White House).

The move, of course, is part of an ongoing and escalating trade war. In the latest move, the U.S. is doubling tariffs on Canadian vehicles—to 50 percent. Wall Street Journal: That next phase of Trump’s tariffs, however, won’t take effect until Jan. 1, 2027, giving both sides plenty of time to return to the negotiating table. “The best thing to do is let some water run under the bridge and give everyone time and space to cool down,” said Kelly Ann Shaw, deputy director of the National Economic Council in Trump’s first term. “I don’t see any possibility of an off-ramp between now and September,” she said, adding, “Let’s see where things are in December” (Wall Street Journal).
U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Waltz thinks P.M. Carney is trying to tank Trump (and the GOP) in the midterms (Daugherty). Why? He’s banking on China for the new world order.
