Florida GOP Incumbent Randy Fine Roundly Defeats Antisemitic Candidate

The Nazi lost. Did anyone do a wellness check on Tucker and Candace?

Dan Bilzerian, who referred to Fine as a “fat Jew,” “Shylock,” “Jewish supremacist,” “Satanic whore,” and “Satan’s creepy little minion” in the shocking commercial, lost to the incumbent by nearly 40 percentage points.

The incumbent—Republican Randy Fine—initially was appointed to the seat after Rep. Mike Waltz stepped away to serve in the administration. Fine—who is Jewish—became a target for vile antisemitism, most immediately here with a challenge from a particularly dark candidate, Dan Bilzerian (background from David Strom: Hot Air).

Fine won handily—with 60 percent of the vote (Decision Desk).

New York Post: Rep. Randy Fine easily turned back a Republican primary challenge Tuesday by far-right influencer Dan Bilzerian, who suggested in one campaign ad that Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler needed to be reassessed. With two-thirds of the expected vote in, Fine had scored 56.7% of the vote compared to Bilzerian’s 18%. Bilzerian’s shocking commercial — which referred to Fine (R-Fla.) as a “fat Jew,” “Shylock,” “Jewish supremacist,” “Satanic whore,” and “Satan’s creepy little minion” — drew a rare bipartisan rebuke from both House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). The spot also used artificial intelligence to make Fine appear fatter and show him hugging a bag full of cash, while frequently cutting to the Israeli flag (New York Post).

DSA Candidate Oliver Larkin Defeated in Florida Congressional Race

Florida’s primary was yesterday. In the state’s 25th district, Socialist Oliver Larkin was looking to take the nomination from sitting congressman Democrat Jared Moskowitz. Larkin received only 36 percent of the vote (Decision Desk).

Moskowitz will face GOP nominee Scott Singer in this district which, because of Florida’s re-drawn districts, is now competitive for the GOP—ranked as a toss-up (Decision Desk). Singer was formerly the mayor of Boca Raton—which is in the district. More on Singer, picking up with a quote from the nominee: “I’m proud of my record of results as mayor,” Singer said. He also serves as founding chair of the America First Policy Institute Mayors Council, a group of about 60 mayors working with the Trump administration, and said he will lead a mayoral delegation to the White House next month. Singer differentiated himself from primary opponents Dan Franzese and George Moraitis by emphasizing electoral success, residency and results. He said he has won five elections with an average of 81% of the vote (Florida’s Voice).
