This time, the SAVE America Act is tied to an appropriations bill, meaning there’s a chance—perhaps—in the Senate, because it would not be limited by cloture and filibuster.

Axios: Senate Republicans are warming to the idea of using a third reconciliation package to replenish the Pentagon’s depleted weapons stocks. They still view reconciliation 3.0 as Plan B. For now, though, they’re willing to let House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) attempt the legislative equivalent of a triple axel: passing a rule, a short-term government funding bill and a budget resolution to unlock reconciliation. “The tale of the tape is going to be what the House can do,” Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) said. “Can the House pass it? I don’t think that’s a done deal. It’s not offset, so I think there’s going to be some troubled water there.” But Republican senators aren’t slamming the door on Johnson’s plan, looking to keep Senate options open. “It’s pretty clear that [Senate Minority Leader Chuck] Schumer would like to play shutdown politics,” Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said. “So I don’t have any problem with using reconciliation for that.” “But beyond that, it gets pretty narrow, what I’d be willing to support” (Axios).

Mike Lee sounds the alarm that the House and Senate will not be in session together after the coming recess until SEPTEMBER 14TH
By then, the SAVE America Act 100% cannot take effect for the 2026 election.
“Take it up now and stay on the bill until it darn well passes. The Senate should stay here. Tomorrow, this weekend, next week, through weekends and long scheduled recesses as long as it takes. If opponents want to block it, let them do so in public!”
CANCEL RECESS!
“Wait for it — September 14th! Mid-September, this is the LAST week absent some change in the respective chambers meeting schedules. The last legislative week until mid-September, which will take us to just what, what is that, six weeks before the November election? That is unacceptable!”
“We don’t have a lack of time, Mr. President. We have a lack of spine!”
“If Democrats want to filibuster this bill, let them stand and speak like actual senators actually filibustering because that’s what filibustering is.”
