Trump to Hold Iran Responsible for Strikes From Houthis

As he should. They are Iran.

  • Yemen’s Houthis said they had targeted two Saudi oil tankers with drones and missiles for allegedly violating their maritime blockade.
  • The attack, if confirmed, would mark the first since the Iran-backed militant group announced a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia.
  • U.S. Central Command said overnight that American forces had completed a 12th successive round of strikes against Iran.

President Donald Trump on Thursday said the U.S. will hold Iran responsible for future Houthis attacks after the Tehran-backed militant group claimed to have struck two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea.

The warning comes as Yemen’s Houthis threaten to open up a a new front in the Middle East conflict as the U.S. completed its 12th consecutive night of strikes on Iran.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said the U.S. attacked the Houthis “very powerfully” a year ago for disrupting global trade by shooting ships.

“Since that time, and during our conflict with Iran, they have acted very responsibly. Unfortunately, now they are starting up again, shooting at two Saudi Arabian ships last night,” Trump wrote.

“Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if they do this again, the U.S. will hold Iran responsible, in that the Houthis are a Surrogate and/or Proxy of Iran, and major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran and, of course, the Houthis, themselves, who I am very disappointed with in that they have, until now, acted very professionally and smart,” he added.

Yemen’s Houthis said Wednesday that they had targeted two Saudi oil tankers, named Encelia and Layla, with drones and missiles for allegedly violating their maritime blockade. The attack, if confirmed, would mark the first since the militant group announced a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia.

The “head of the snake”—as Iran has long been referred to—is weaker than it has been in decades. This approach will further weaken the mullahs and the IRGC. Wall Street Journal: President Trump said the U.S. would hold Iran responsible for future attacks by Houthi militants after the group fired on two Saudi tankers in the Red Sea, sending oil prices skyrocketing. “The Houthis are a Surrogate and/or Proxy of Iran, and major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran and, of course, the Houthis, themselves,” he wrote in a social-media post Thursday. The Houthis’ military spokesman said the group targeted two Saudi oil tankers with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones in the Red Sea on Wednesday, opening a potential new front in the conflict as the U.S. and Iran traded strikes for a 12th consecutive night…. “A year ago the United States of America attacked, very powerfully, the Houthis, for their interference with commerce and trade, by shooting at ships. Since that time, and during our conflict with Iran, they have acted very responsibly. Unfortunately, now they are starting up again, shooting at two Saudi Arabian ships last night,” Trump wrote in Thursday’s post. (Wall Street Journal).

Secretary of State Rubio: I saw Arachi, their foreign minister, who the other day say or something about their policy is, “an eye for an eye.” The president’s policy is a head for an eye. I mean, honestly, that’s what it’s going to be. I mean, they will pay a very heavy price for the things they’re doing (State).

Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Iran on Wednesday of flying members of its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps into Yemen, saying Tehran’s actions helped ignite a renewed confrontation between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

“They decided to send direct flights from Tehran into Yemen, carrying IRGC elements and others into the country,” Rubio told reporters. “And the Saudis responded to it.”
