BIRTH TOURISM: “ROWS OF BASSINETS”

What were Roberts and Coney Barrett thinking?

SCOTUS Blows It on Birthright Citizenship

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has released images show so-called birth tourism operations operating out of ordinary-looking homes across Texas. The photos depict rows of bassinets allegedly used to house newborns delivered by foreign nationals seeking U.S. citizenship for their children under the nation’s birthright citizenship laws.

Paxton alleges that some of these operations involve Chinese nationals who return to China after giving birth, raising renewed questions about whether the current interpretation of birthright citizenship is being exploited in ways the Framers never intended. The revelations are certain to intensify calls for Congress, the courts, and the states to revisit the issue and consider reforms.

A Texas hospital is under investigation after allegedly advertising maternity packages to pregnant foreign nationals near the U.S.-Mexico border.

The investigation was launched following reports of a billboard promoting childbirth services starting at $4,000 and a now-removed website marketing the hospital’s maternity care.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has directed state agencies to investigate whether any state laws were violated. The hospital has denied facilitating any unlawful activity, stating that it does not support illegal conduct and has since removed the advertising materials in question.
