Institute for the Study of War:
Iranian drone and missile strikes on Kuwaiti infrastructure, including Kuwait International Airport, killed one individual and injured at least 63 others. Iran’s attack on Kuwait is one of the largest attacks that Iran has conducted since the ceasefire went into effect in April. Iran claimed that it conducted the strikes in response to the United States’ enforcement of its blockade on Iranian ports and US self-defense strikes against Iran…. CENTCOM also announced that US forces shot down three Iranian drones that were targeting civilian mariners and struck a ground control station on Qeshm Island…. Kuwait summoned Iran’s interim charge d’affaires and declared two Iranian diplomats persona non grata in response to the attack. An adviser to the Emirati president separately called on Gulf states to adopt a “firm, unified, and cohesive” stance against Iran. The adviser emphasized that Iranian “aggression does not target a specific state, but rather all of us” (ISW).

An Iranian drone attack caused heavy damage to Kuwait International Airport, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing exchange of strikes between Iran and the United States.
Kuwaiti authorities reported substantial damage to airport infrastructure, while emergency services responded to the scene and flight operations were disrupted following the attack.
The strike came amid a broader cycle of military escalation between Tehran and Washington, raising concerns about the security of key civilian infrastructure across the Gulf region.
Here’s the latest:
- Iranian attacks on Kuwait damaged its airport, killing one person and injuring more than 60 others, according to Kuwaiti authorities.
- Iranian media reported the Revolutionary Guards had attacked the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and a U.S. airbase, as well as a vessel. U.S. Central Command denied its bases had been hit.
- Meanwhile, the U.S. military said it had carried out a new round of “defensive strikes” in southern Iran. It said it targeted missile launch sites and Iranian boats seeking to lay mines, and conducted strikes on Qeshm Island.
- The attacks triggered oil prices to rise by about 2%.
- Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told Lebanese broadcaster Al Mayadeen that talks with Washington had not been cut off, but no progress had been made.
- In a podcast interview, Trump said Iran had agreed to not have a nuclear weapon and that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was involved in negotiations.
- Trump acknowledged that he called Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “crazy” during a reportedly heated phone call over the fighting in Lebanon. Netanyahu told CNBC that he and Trump sometimes had “tactical disagreements” but that they agreed on the main issues concerning Iran.
- Israeli drone strikes killed at least six people in southern Lebanon and targeted a car just south of Beirut, Lebanese security sources said.
- Israel said it intercepted a hostile aircraft likely fired by Hezbollah.
