Woman stabbed to death in random attack at Spanish holiday hotspot
A woman has been killed in a random stabbing at one of Europe’s most popular holiday hotspots.

A knifeman who allegedly sliced a woman’s throat in a deadly broad daylight attack was pictured prowling the streets of Barcelona after the stabbing.
ADVERTISEMENTThe suspect was allegedly seen in a chilling image brandishing a blade – as cops confirmed they arrested a man in the holiday hotspot.
The horror ordeal unfolded on Saturday morning in Esplugues de Llobregat, near Barcelona’s Nou Camp stadium.
The suspected killer, who was wearing jeans and a hoodie and carrying a large black rucksack, was arrested around midday in the Les Corts neighbourhood.
Police are still trying to establish whether the attacker knew his victim – whose age and nationality have not yet been revealed.
Cops confirmed there was no romantic link between the two, and are working on a theory it was a random stabbing.
The woman has been described in local media as “young” and of Asian origin.
Reports say she was knifed in the throat, chest and stomach.
ADVERTISEMENTThe brutal stabbing occurred in a residential area near Sant Joan Deu Hospital, at around 11am on Saturday.
Witnesses said a man had brandished a large knife in the middle of Joan Miro street – showing “signs of nervousness” – before the bloodbath.
Blood was seen along the street as terrified onlookers called emergency services.
Paramedics were dispatched to the scene but there was nothing they could do to save the woman.
Esplugues de Llobregat Town Hall said: “We deeply regret the violent death of a person in the town and extend our condolences to their family and loved ones.
“The council condemns all forms of violence and expresses its concern over these serious incidents, which affect community life and public safety.
“From the outset, the Council has been co-ordinating with the Mossos d’Esquadra, the force leading the investigation, and the Esplugues Local Police, and is offering all necessary institutional co-operation to help clarify the facts.”
They also said two days of official mourning had started.
