ARCHITECT OF HORMUZ SHUTDOWN ELIMINATED: IRAN’S IRGC NAVY CHIEF TAKEN OUT IN BANDAR ABBAS

6

One of the most dangerous men in the Gulf is gone.

Reports claim that Ali Reza Tangsiri, the Revolutionary Guards Navy commander widely seen as the architect behind threats to shut down the Strait of Hormuz, was eliminated in Bandar Abbas—removing a central figure in Iran’s maritime power structure. As head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, Tangsiri oversaw aggressive operations in one of the world’s most critical chokepoints, where even the threat of disruption can rattle global energy markets. His reported death, if confirmed, marks a significant blow to Iran’s ability to project naval pressure in the Gulf and raises immediate questions about escalation, retaliation, and who now fills the vacuum at the helm of Tehran’s asymmetric naval strategy.

Thank you, Israel. The world owes you an incalcuable debt.

Israeli sources have confirmed that the IDF was behind the strike, adding that some of Tangsiri’s top naval aides were killed in the same attack.

A strike killed the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Navy, Alireza Tangsiri, in Bandar Abbas, adjacent to the Strait of Hormuz, an Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.

Israeli defense sources have confirmed to the Post that the IDF was behind the strike that killed Tangsiri and added that the strike took place at 3 a.m local time.

The sources said that a number of Tangsiri’s top naval aides were killed in the same attack.

The Iranian official ‘directly responsible’ for blocking Hormuz

Defense Minister Israel Katz later confirmed Tangsiri’s killing, calling him the official “directly responsible” for the terrorist operation of mining and blocking the Strait of Hormuz to shipping.

“This is also an important development for our American partners, as it reflects the IDF’s role in helping to reopen the Strait of Hormuz,” he told security officials during a situation assessment.

Slain commander took increasingly aggressive stance
Tangsiri, who has led the IRGC Navy since August 2018, had taken an increasingly aggressive stance in recent weeks regarding Iran’s actions in the Gulf, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.

Last week, he threatened retaliation against US facilities in the region, warning civilians and workers to stay away.
