Susie Wiles Lawyer Categorically DENIES He Allowed Biden FBI To Secretly Record Their Conversations

This makes Watergate look like jaywalking.

FBI Director Kash Patel just dropped a bombshell that should horrify Americans of all political stripes. In 2022 and 2023, Jack Smith, the illicitly-appointed “special counsel,” and the Biden Justice Department subpoenaed toll records of calls from Patel and now-White House chief of staff Susie Wiles. Both were private citizens, and this surveillance continued while Wiles was co-managing President Trump’s election campaign. The FBI even wiretapped a call between Wiles and her lawyer in which the lawyer, knowing of the wiretap, failed to inform Wiles. This conduct is ghastly, and there must be dire legal consequences.

The attorney-client privilege is one of the most sacred legal principles in the Republic. To represent their clients effectively, lawyers need to be able to engage in frank discussions. Clients must feel secure in the knowledge that what they say cannot be used against them. The privilege is so sacred that, in Swidler & Berlin v. United States (1998), the Supreme Court held that it survives the death of a client under the Federal Rules of Evidence.

White House chief of staff Susie Wiles was reportedly in shock after hearing that the FBI under former President Joe Biden subpoenaed her and current FBI Director Kash Patel’s phone records in 2022 and 2023.

Wiles — who ran President Donald Trump‘s 2024 campaign — reportedly told associates, “I am in shock,” Axios reported on Thursday.

Reuters first disclosed the subpoenas, which were issued during the Biden administration, while special counsel Jack Smith was investigating Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election and his handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

Biden FBI Recorded Susie Wiles Conversation With Her Attorney: A Trampling of Attorney-Client Privilege

Hugh Hewitt: Licensed since 1983. I haven’t heard of a breach of atty ethics remotely as serious as this appears to be (Hewitt).

Reuters: The FBI subpoenaed records of phone calls made by Kash Patel and Susie Wiles, now the FBI director and White House Chief of Staff, when they were both private citizens in 2022 and 2023 during the federal probe of Donald Trump, Patel told Reuters on Wednesday…. “It is outrageous and deeply alarming that the previous FBI leadership secretly subpoenaed my own phone records – along with those of now White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles – using flimsy pretexts and burying the entire process in prohibited case files designed to evade all oversight,” Patel said in a statement to Reuters…. In 2023, the FBI recorded a phone call between Wiles and her attorney, according to two FBI officials. Wiles’ attorney was aware that the call was being recorded, and consented to it, but Susie Wiles was not (Reuters).
Axios: Wiles told associates: “I am in shock” (Axios).
This looks a lot like a White House and DoJ keeping tabs on its political opponents in a manner that makes Watergate look like a bungled game of telephone. Anyone participating in that kind of political surveillance deserves to get fired (Hot Air).
