A massive sewage spill that began January 19 after the collapse of the Potomac Interceptor sewer line near Cabin John, Maryland, has released hundreds of millions of gallons of raw sewage into the Potomac River — potentially making it the largest wastewater spill in U.S. history. Previous records stood at 143 million gallons, but estimates now suggest the total could approach 1 billion gallons before the crisis is contained.
DC and Maryland Democrats are STILL pumping raw sewage directly into waterways leading to the Potomac River, with NO end in sight.
The failure in a section of a 72-inch sewer pipe in Maryland, has released close to a billion gallons of raw sewage into the Potomac River.

President Trump blamed Maryland’s Democratic leadership, particularly Gov. Wes Moore, calling the spill an “ecological disaster” caused by mismanagement. He announced that federal authorities, including FEMA, will step in to coordinate the response, arguing that local and state officials failed to adequately handle the emergency.

Washington Examiner: A sewage spill that began on Jan. 19 in the Potomac River has become one of the largest, if not the largest, reported wastewater spills in U.S. history. On Jan. 19, a section of the Potomac Interceptor sewer line collapsed in the Potomac River at a point off of Cabin John, Maryland, causing the release of hundreds of millions of gallons of raw sewage into the waterway. Regional environmental activists have called the spill undoubtedly one of the largest wastewater spills in the nation, with WTOP calling it the largest in U.S. history…. The largest wastewater spill on record before the Potomac Interceptor leak stood at 143 million gallons of wastewater, according to World Atlas. This number stands at about 100 million gallons less than the Potomac Interceptor overflow (Washington Examiner).

Trump on Monday Afternoon: There is a massive Ecological Disaster unfolding in the Potomac River as a result of the Gross Mismanagement of Local Democrat Leaders, particularly, Governor Wes Moore, of Maryland. A sewer line breach in Maryland has caused millions of gallons of raw sewage to be dumped directly into the Potomac River, a result of incompetent Local and State Management of Essential Waste Management Systems. This is the same Governor who cannot rebuild a Bridge. It is clear Local Authorities cannot adequately handle this calamity. Therefore, I am directing Federal Authorities to immediately provide all necessary Management, Direction, and Coordination to protect the Potomac, the Water Supply in the Capital Region, and our treasured National Resources in our Nation’s Capital City. While State and Local Authorities have failed to request needed Emergency Help, I cannot allow incompetent Local “Leadership” to turn the River in the Heart of Washington into a Disaster Zone. As we saw in the Palisades, the Democrat War on Merit has real consequences. The Federal Government has no choice, but to step in.
