Just a harmless legal observer. A kind hearted nurse. A very peaceful protester.pic.twitter.com/YuuqSx5ky1

Alex Pretti seen spitting at and kicking out ICE taillight in earlier wild clash with federal agents
Disturbing new footage shows Alex Pretti armed, spitting at federal immigration officers and smashing the taillights of their black SUV during a chaotic clash more than a week before he was fatally shot by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis. The video, which the BBC said it has verified, captured the ICU nurse yelling at agents while they were driving away during a heated Jan. 13 protest before booting the back of the car, prompting them to jump out and tackle him to the ground, according to footage from the News Movement.
ADVERTISEMENTThe man — who was wearing similar clothing in the video to what Pretti had on when he was fatally shot last Saturday — was taken to the ground by at least five agents, who deployed tear gas into the whistle-blowing crowd during the wild confrontation.

Deadly bomb cyclone headed straight for NYC — and could batter Northeast with even more snow, colder temps
Homeland Security Investigations is “reviewing” the newest footage of the 37-year-old’s apparent prior brush with federal agents, the Department of Homeland Security told The Post.A spokesperson for Pretti’s devastated family and the family’s attorney have verified that the man in the video is Pretti, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported.
“A week before Alex was gunned down in the street — despite posing no threat to anyone — he was violently assaulted by a group of ICE agents,” Pretti family attorney Steve Schleicher said in a statement to The Post.
“Nothing that happened a full week before could possibly have justified Alex’s killing at the hands of ICE on Jan. 24.”
Pretti was apparently known to federal authorities and had suffered a broken rib during the violent confrontation with agents 11 days before his death, CNN reported Tuesday.
ADVERTISEMENTFederal immigration officers had documented details about Pretti, along with other anti-ICE protesters in Minneapolis in recent weeks, according to the outlet.
Pretti also had a handgun, which he had a license to carry, when he confronted Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis last Saturday. Federal officers pulled the loaded Sig Sauer pistol from his waistband before firing at least 10 shots at him while he was pinned to the ground.
DHS investigators believe an errant round from Pretti’s own pistol — after it was taken from — may have prompted Border Patrol agents to open fire.
Alex Pretti’s pistol is visible on his hip as he walks past law enforcement officers and a woman filming on a phone.
Pretti was apparently known to federal authorities and had suffered a broken rib during a violent confrontation with agents about a week before his death.
The deadly caught-on-camera incident erupted when he wedged himself between a female protester and ICE officers, and was tackled and disarmed by the Border Patrol before two agents shot him dead in the scuffle.
The two federal immigration officers who fired their weapons at Pretti have been placed on administrative leave, standard protocol for agents involved in a shooting, Department of Homeland Security officials confirmed Wednesday.
Neither has been identified.
Pretti’s death was the second shooting involving federal immigration officers in Minnesota in less than three weeks, during the Trump administration’s massive roundup of illegal migrants in the North Star State.
On Jan. 7, ICE agent Jonathan Ross shot and killed 37-year-old mother of three Renee Good after federal authorities said she rammed her car into the officer.
Both shootings sparked waves of protests across the state, prompting local and national elected officials to call for President Trump to pull ICE out of Minnesota to defuse the chaos.
Amid mounting tensions, Trump sent “border czar” Tom Homan to Minnesota, putting Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on the sidelines and leaving her future in the administration uncertain.
US Border Patrol chief Gregory Bovino, who was leading the massive immigration operation there, and other agents have also been pulled out of Minneapolis after the latest violence.
