The Persecution of Shaun O’Sullivan

Shaun O’Sullivan is a Christian pastor and preacher in the U.K., who has the misfortune of standing up for Jews, and for the Jewish state. His preaching, naturally, has led to Muslim complaints; they feel “threatened” by him. He has been arrested sixteen times, mostly because the police apparently believe, or pretend to, that his philosemitic views do indeed express a frightening “Islamophobia.”

“If we had free speech, I wouldn’t be in court 16 times, I wouldn’t get beaten up for preaching,” British Christian pastor and preacher Shaun O’Sullivan told The Jerusalem Post on Monday.

The pastor was acquitted by a Swindon Crown Court jury on Sunday after facing an Islamophobia “religiously aggravated intentional harassment” charge for saying, “We love the Jews” and using the term’Jew haters.’

He had been preaching in the town center when a Muslim family reported feeling targeted because they were wearing hijabs when he made the comments on September 15, 2024. The police call handler categorized it straight away as a hate crime, without any evidence.

Apparently that Muslim family that walked by O’Sullivan as he spoke in the Swindon town center felt that O’Sullivan’s saying “we love the Jews” was a direct threat to them; they were scared, especially because they were wearing hijabs and thus easily identifiable as Muslims. Was O’Sullivan whipping up hatred against Muslims? No. He did mention how the Palestinian government teaches its people to hate Jews, and he said that, in contradistinction, “we love the Jews.” In today’s rapidly Islamizing Britain, such a remark expressing solidarity with Jews is naturally offensive to Muslims, who demand, and get, the state’s special sympathy and protection. And thus saying “we love the Jews” is enough of a reason for the police to arrest you.

Under cross-examination by O’Sullivan’s lawyer, the accuser admitted she had not heard his words in full and that her memory of the incident was related to her views on Gaza, telling the court, “We have to defend the cause.”…

In other words, the Muslimah who complained about O’Sullivan’s speech had not even heard all of what he said, and she had been so determined to defend “the cause” in Gaza that she made up her complaint of “islamophobia” to silence someone speaking up for the Jews.

Why does this keep happening, the Post asked him.

“I think that we, the police force, are scared of an uprising. They are scared to be seen to attack Muslims. If there is an attack from anyone with Islamic views, they just blame ‘mental health’ because they are in fear.”

In their efforts not to come across as Islamophobic, officers are suppressing pro-Jewish and pro-Israel speech, he explained.

The police refuse to admit that Muslim attacks on non-Muslims are a result of the texts and teachings of Islam. Instead, the British police all too often characterize Muslims who engage in such attacks as “mentally ill.”

Shaun O’Sullivan has been arrested by the police, and then released by judges, sixteen times. Muslims keep bringing complaints against him of “Islamophobia,” claiming to feel “threatened by him,” but at the same time, they keep showing up when he preaches, to harass him, to stone him, to attempt to stab him, to make threats to kill him, or to kill his son. The police have not arrested any of the Muslims who have beaten him, stoned him, tried to stab him, tried to slash him with a machete, threatened to kill his son and O’Sullivan himself. Instead, he was arrested sixteen times for declaring his love for the Jews and for Israel, which was interpreted by the police as “Islamohphobia.”

This is the U.K. today, where the police are terrified of being called “racists” and “Islamophobes.” Just think of how reluctant they were — for years and years — to investigate the Pakistani grooming gangs that ruined the lives of tens of thousands of English girls.

Shaun O’Sullivan, Cassandra-like, is grim about his country’s parlous state when it comes to discussing Islam, Muslims, and Jews: “We are gagged and silenced, we’re not free, because if we were, I wouldn’t be in court 16 times. I wouldn’t get beaten up for preaching. They don’t address the people throwing stuff at me, shouting at me; instead, they say I am causing a nuisance.” Nonetheless, he’s back at his post in the town square in Swindon, preaching his love for Israel. He’s ready to have the police come and arrest him, for the seventeenth time. Nothing will make him quit.
