Jay Jones, Virginia’s Democratic nominee for attorney general, sent a series of disturbing text messages to a former colleague in 2022, where he said the state’s then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert (R) deserved to be shot in the head.

“Three people, two bullets,” read a text from Jones, obtained by The Post from a source.

“Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot,” the former member of the Virginia House of Delegates continued, presenting the recipient of his text with a dark hypothetical.

“Gilbert gets two bullets to the head,” Jones wrote, adding, “Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time.”

The texts, first-reported by National Review on Friday, were sent by Jones at around 8 a.m., on Aug. 8, 2022, to Republican House Delegate Carrie Coyner – who was clearly troubled by the messages.

“Jay,” Coyner wrote back. “Please stop.”

“It really bothers me when you talk about hurting people or wishing death on them,” she added.

Top Democrat officials in Virginia have rallied around Attorney General candidate Jay Jones, declining to call for him to drop out of the race despite texts expressing his violent fantasies about murdering Republicans.

Louise Lucas, president pro tempore of the Virginia Senate and a marijuana dispensary co-owner, said in a statement, “There is no place for political violence or violent rhetoric in our public discourse, and Jay must take accountability for his actions. But we will not allow this moment to overshadow the stakes of this election. … The choice before us is far bigger than this mistake.”

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin called on embattled attorney general hopeful Jay Jones to drop out of the race after disturbing texts revealed him fantasizing about a GOP lawmaker getting shot twice in the head.

The Republican governor tore into the Democrat nominee for Virginia’s top law enforcement post after a string of “violent” and “disgusting” text messages from 2022 surfaced showing him wishing the state’s then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert and his children would be gunned down.

“This violent, disgusting rhetoric targeted at an elected official and his children is beyond disqualifying,” Youngkin said on X Saturday morning.

Democrat Virginia attorney general candidate Jay Jones, in recently uncovered text messages, fantasized about murdering a state GOP leader with “two bullets to the head” and “piss[ing]” on the graves of other Republicans.
In the wake of the scandal — which comes at a time of increased political violence from the Left — Jones has sought to blame Republicans and President Donald Trump.

In text messages obtained first by National Review, Jones says to another lawmaker that he would use two bullets to murder then-GOP House Speaker Todd Gilbert.
“Three people, two bullets. Gilbert, Hitler and Pol Pot. Gilbert gets two bullets to the head,” Jones texted to Del. Carrie Coyner (R). “Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time.”
Earlier in the text messages, Jones expressed that he would attend the funerals of Republican lawmakers in Virginia “to piss on their graves.”

“Send them out awash in something,” he added.

Jones’ comments were reportedly in reference to Republicans saying kind words about Democrat Del. Joe Johnson, who passed away at age 90.

A follow-up message from Jones, he seemed to confirm that he wants Gilbert’s children to die. He wrote, “I’ve told you this before. Only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy,” Fox News reported.

The Democrat also said Gilbert and his wife were”evil” and “breeding little fascists.”
