As New York’s top prosecutor, James should have been investigating herself and her entire family.
Some enterprising reporters looked into the current residents of Letitia James’ Virginia house—you know, the one she claimed on mortgage documents would be her permanent residence—and found interesting tenants.
New York Post: Indicted New York State Attorney General Letitia James has housed her “fugitive” relative in her Virginia house for five years, according to reports. The under-fire prosecutor’s grandniece, Nakia Thompson, has been living with her three children in James’ three-bedroom property in Norfolk since 2020. It has now been revealed that Thompson is officially listed as an “absconder” who is wanted by authorities in Forsyth County, North Carolina, for failing to finish her probation, court documents seen by the Daily Mail reveal. Letitia James’s nieces are living in her Virginia property and are her so-called “tenants.” Her niece Nakia is a fugitive who fled North Carolina to dodge arrest warrants and then took up residence in Aunt Letitia’s bank-fraud home. Is that surprising? pic.twitter.com/n9hqMCZDJw

It has now been revealed that Thompson is officially listed as an “absconder” who is wanted by authorities in Forsyth County, North Carolina, for failing to finish her probation, court documents seen by the Daily Mail reveal.
“Ms. Thompson was sentenced to probation for misdemeanor convictions for assault and battery and trespassing, and has willfully avoided probation supervision,” Keith Acree from the North Carolina Department of Corrections told the Daily Mail.
“An absconder is considered a fugitive. Thompson faces arrest if she is located in North Carolina,” Acree added, saying that her crimes were considered low-level and thus, “non-extraditable.”
Thompson told a grand jury in June that she had been living rent-free in James’ $235k Virginia home since the Attorney General bought it, and doesn’t even pay for basic upkeep, The New York Times previously reported.
Court records show she was convicted in October 2011 with one count of assault and battery and one count of second-degree trespass, and was sentenced to probation.
She also has previous convictions for assault/threat against the government and simple assault/affray from 2006 and 2005 respectively.
